I think this passage is largely used out of context. What the passage speaks of is akin to saying that someone who becomes president of a country first goes to grade school, then to high school then to college. But this does not mean that every one who goes to grade school will become president...

But just what is God enabling? Is He willing to spoil certain people while condemning others wholesale? Is God like a Celestial Candyman? A biblical God has no respect for persons...which means we will each be judged by our thoughts and actions.

God allows denominations in the same way that He deemed that men should not come together for their own advancement as at the tower of Babel. The true unity is only permitted through the Holy Spirit.

I think that most Christians don't see any difference between Judaism and being Jewish and Zionism and being a nationalist Israeli. In Jesus' day there were the zealots (nationalists). Did Christians ally themselves with the zealots?
