The Pope Said It's Better to Be An Atheist

But that's not being hypocritical. That's just following confession as the CC practices it.

The Pope Said It's Better to Be An Atheist

A hypocrite is someone who says one thing but does another. What does the Pope say that he does not do??

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

Agreed. But how do we get around John 6? Especially John 6:54 .....look it up in the Greek. It means to chew. I don't know how that's spiritual. Anyway, I don't think about this too much... I'm sure God will forgive those who got it wrong if we just love Him and follow His ways.

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

Agreed. I remember the first double ear piercings --- they looked kind of funny. Now I think they look nice if the right earrings are worn. And as to girls getting "inked", as you put it, I think it's already mainstream. I live in small town and many young girls have cute tattoos in visible...

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

Yes, but Catholics see it this way too ! I often hear that the priest re-sacrifices Jesus at every Mass. This is not true. What happens is that the FIRST AND ONLY sacrifice of Jesus is offered to God....Jesus is not sacrificed again. If one reads the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) it...

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

I really don't understand this myself. But I don't see why it should be a reason to hate the doctrine. I've been reading the Early Church Fathers (theologians) for the past couple of years or so, and I'm finding that they did give much creedence to the idea of the Eucharist being special in...

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

Yes. I like what @Acolyte said. I think she and I agree on many things. I would tell a teen not to get any tattoos till they're in their 20's... but if someone 18 really wanted one, I don't see how you could stop them or what is radically wrong with it. Sometimes the battles are just not...

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

I don't understand hatred for the CC. What about it do you hate? For instance, you say the Mass is idolatry. How??

The Pope Said It's Better to Be An Atheist

What the Pope said was very misunderstood even here, and he should be very careful about the words that come out of his mouth. Sometimes I wonder if he does this on purpose....?

The Pope Said It's Better to Be An Atheist

Please don't turn this into a thread on the catholic sex scandal. There are rotten apples in every organization. I DO hold priests to a higher standard,,,that goes without saying. But it does seem to me that even Protestants break rules. When Swaggart was at his height, he fell hard by...

The Pope Said It's Better to Be An Atheist

They always seem to have to clarify his remarks. I understood what you stated. He's saying that it's a bad witness to go to church all the time and call yourself a Christian and then gossip and so forth --- which some that I know do. What about teaching? I believe there's more teaching going...

Could you check out my Pope statement thread in Theology? I think he was misunderstood....

The Pope Said It's Better to Be An Atheist

Yes, but it's difficult for me to ignore his statements. All my friends are catholic these days....and traditional ones at that ! Got a visit from a friend this morning....she was here for two hours on this & some other things about being saved.

The Pope Said It's Better to Be An Atheist

Yes. I'd have to agree with your second paragraph. Perhaps BAC can instinctively do what is right because of their love for our Lord. Good point.

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

LOL Yeah. Sounds like you're trying to convince me! I wouldn't care what my office people thought if I decided to get the cross tattoo. But, you're right, I don't work anymore. I do wear rings and my nails are painted. So....you suggest I get the tattoo?? You're sweet. :) P.S. I like post no. 53

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

Farouk... What would be the purpose of hiding it??? IF I got one, it would be very visible. I've seen a cross on the top of the hand at the thumb. I just don't know if I could stand seeing this every day -- that's all. Like this, but larger:

Poll - Tattooing: from male military and biker ethos...to viable witness means for both genders?

LOL I put "Not Sure". There's not too many things I'm not sure about! I have mixed feelings...here's why. Generally speaking, I don't care for tattoos. They're too permanent; a person may change their mind as they get older; and I don't like how older persons look with them. I know that many...
