If atheists get accused of taking verses out of context, how do we know fundamentalists making those accusations aren’t doing the same as well?

It is self evident! As evident as a book has an author, the objective evidence is there must be a God. He writes in the material of existence, not with ink and paper but the stuff of matter. You just don’t have eyes to see. The writing of the author of life is seen in life itself, at the...

If atheists get accused of taking verses out of context, how do we know fundamentalists making those accusations aren’t doing the same as well?

For some reason, you continue to pervert the notion of equality. There is God’s eternal standard, which applies equally to all. To say there is no partiality is not to be taken to mean all will be treated equally: some will be saved; some will not be saved; we’ll all be judged based on the...

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

Yes. In this thread, let’s stick to the reasons the Jews reject Jesus in this thread. :)

Coming Soon- The Jesus Revolution Movie (Chuck Smith)

Not me. I thought his portrayal was too above it all. My favorite was Diogo Morgado.

Coming Soon- The Jesus Revolution Movie (Chuck Smith)

I saw the movie. I rate it a 3 out of 5 star. Worth watching. I suppose any actor who plays Jesus will seem less in acting as any other character. One cannot compare as equal THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD to any other story.

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

This could be a whole thread. In short, the Messiah is greater than the son of Jesse - even though is Earthly arrival is centuries later.

    Christianity as a Closed System

I answered what you are saved from. I even elaborated the answer in great detail. Nothing was evaded. You just don’t like my answer. And that begs the question of what would qualify as an answer and why is that the standard of a legitimate answer.

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

Absurd. Jesus identifies himself as David’s lord. He asks the Pharisees how can David’s son (descendant) be his lord. It is a profound question and they had no answer for it.

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

Agreed. Yet, we have to go to the next level of detail. Someone used the example recently of supposing one is not a traveller until they finished their travels. It shows a kind of desperation to deny what is obviously the case. Jesus is the Messiah EVEN before he began his ministry, even before...

First Work of Faith: Confessing Jesus Christ

I think it all comes down to discerning the different senses of work. There is external "works" in the Biblical sense that one cannot claim to earn salvation. Then there is internal work regarding faith and belief. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave[b] his one and only Son, so that...

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

Yes. Yes, I do want to go down every rabbit hole in defense of our lord. Here's the thing, though. Any reasonable debate ought to recognize the strength and weakness of both sides and I think you alluded to this. The whole reason Christians get uncomfortable and disturbed is because they know...

    Christianity as a Closed System

How does my post not answer the question?

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

I thought the same thing when I first read the list. There are very likely more than these 6 reasons. In the end, it does not matter what is left out. These 6 reasons are on the table for discussion. The basic question to us all is: A. Abandon the field. Let the 6 reasons stand unopposed to...

First Work of Faith: Confessing Jesus Christ

<sigh> The opposition to work by many Christians is counter-productive though well meaning. No one is vaguely claiming "works", in the Biblical sense, is needed for salvation. There is the normal use of the word "work" (action) that IS necessary. If this were not true, universalism would be...

    Organised Religion

I believe things like this is why there is denomination, the Holy Spirit being all things to all people. Want organization? Go to denomination X. Want spontaneity? Go to denomination Y. Praise God!

    Christianity as a Closed System

Well, there is a reason for this. Jesus did not clown people who sincerely turned to God. You do.

    Christianity as a Closed System

Yes. It worked very well with my kids. Thanks! Why do you mention that? OK We are being saved from ourselves. The quote is the Original Sin. See Genesis 2-3. I do not believe we are damned for our sins but by our sins. People want to blame God for judging us - AS IF his standard of...

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

Thank you. This thread has, IMO, revealed the great spiritual immaturity of many who posted in it. Rather than make a Christian apology, they resort to bashing the unbelieving Jews. In all effective evangelism, one must meet people where they are. This is the foundation of relationship. No one...

I think Jim B holds the record of being put on my ignore list faster than any other human being. Seems like recent evidence supports that most speedy choice.

    Reasons Jews Reject Jesus

Well, that reinforces the validity of the Jews rejecting Jesus because the descent is supposed to be biological and not specious.
