Hey that is some good questions. Some of us are kind of "mature" but who remembers before they chose to believe? What was "the thing or the event" that made the difference for you?

For certain!

You have a romantic view of the Hebrew Bible….it takes a selective eye. The history of the Talmud is interesting but there is a reason why a portion of it is called the Babylonian Talmud. There is a reason why scholars call the ancient religion of the Jews a “this world” religion. Very little...

..The Spirit of Christ…the Spirit of the Gospels…the Living Word of God You have heard of it. People say it different ways. Some consider it to be praying for guidance from God before reading the scriptures. Some believe it is about being in tune with the Spirit of Christ. Functionally it is...

Would not be surprised at all. You and I know that even within the Jewish sects that beliefs of spiritual things differed. So it would depend on who Yeshua was talking to. Their understanding of heaven, hell, angels, devil, demons, the battle between good and evil....that does not come from the...

The story about the rich man and Lazarus falls into one of those scholarly debates. Most agree that it is not a real estimation of how heaven and hell works. It had a point to make and it did make that point. Paradise and garden. The correct translation of Garden of Eden is Paradise of...

1. You are not a Jew. 2. You are not under the Law. 3. All that is the Old Covenant. 4. We be Christians in the New Covenant.... 5. And most of us menz watch Football engraved on our TV's lol And there is a cross in most Christian churches. Even if the first ten laws of the 613 laws of Moses...

lol Well Marymog, I guess he does not know....that we are not Jews.....If you are keeping the Law....You keep one, you have to keep all 613 Mosaic Laws....Once you step in the Old Covenant....you step out of the New Covenant.....severed from Christ and fallen from Grace.

All good. The details are a little thin. Neither Christ or the thief went directly to heaven. Christ had not ascended to the Father. Sheol is not well understood, even in the Hebrew Bible. But nothing to imply that Sheol was a place of punishment. "Gathered with their fathers" Paradise is...

On this thread we have Gluliano, Marks, and Nancy.....no dummies among them! So put it together and figure out what was happening there. There are scriptures to give you a few clues. Where did Christ say He was going for three days? Where did all people go that were not saved.....? Where do you...

Ya a deep study. Well worth the effort. You all are digging for gold and it is there. They could have left us. Why is it that the Trinity love us so much? The last remnant of good on earth was there in the middle east. Satan had them bottled up, he had the nations of the world. He thought he was...

Blood is an issue, and it is an issue with people. Some people find it grotesque. Was it something about Christ’s blood that saved us? Maybe it was the symbology of blood that saved us. Maybe Christ was only symbolically crucified? People can read the scriptures and make any possible thing out...

But still we have the scriptures regarding wealth to consider. Some hold to the belief that wanting the material is bad and even rejecting technology like the Amish. Some have a general dislike for the wealthy, some consider wealth a sin. But mostly people work to live comfortably, but that is...

Wealth Matthew 19:16-30 "And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Then he...

The times, they are a changing.....But when did the times change? When will they change? About the end times Hebrews 1:1-2 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of...

I have heard the same thing. Years ago at a church camp had a fellow show me a 3X5 card with everything you needed to know to be saved and apply Christianity in your life. I agreed and I have used that example over and over again. Stay safe my brother.

Very good point brother. But what is the value of the topic? For anyone that knows the evolution of the Bibles this topic is only condescending and non-productive. No matter what translation of the Bible it is, the miracle of the scriptures are that these Bibles save and have for centuries. God...

Is the problem of understanding, baptism for the remission of sins, the definition of the word remission?

Beliefs are beliefs.....scriptures are scriptures.....and fact are facts.....The trick is to work your way through all this for understanding. The scriptures you referenced are good but what you are saying does not make much sense.

Anyway thanks for your reply, although the word of God says implicitly and very strongly by explicit statements of what John actually did do...and that John never had authority to forgive sin. This is completely incorrect. Repentance is associated with John's baptisms for the remission of sins...
