What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

There you go. Our religions are different. If Adolph Hitler found Christ in his bunker at that last minute, you would be standing shoulder to shoulder with Him in the Highest Heaven.

"IN" ? Cutting to the chase, I believe that there are levels in Heaven and Hell and Sheol is still an option. Don't bring up the word Purgatory because that is not what I am talking about.

I believe Christ is where He wants to be, but his throne is in the Heavenly Court of God. The throne to the right of God the Father. I do not believe we are absorbed in Christ. (Definitions of Heavenly thrones a side.)

Your belief is a little different than mine, and it has a lot to do with the properties of sin after Christ's death on the cross. But that is ok. I do fellowship with churches that think that Baptism has no spiritual effect. Just a public declaration that you are Christian. I do believe that...

Mark 10:12 When was it possible for a wife to divorce her husband?

Mary and Joseph were not married during the discussion of if he was going to put her away. The Gospels seem to disagree if they were married, before going to Jerusalem or after Christ's birth....two places that you have to look. Either way, no ceremony and within the Hebrew culture, no marriage...

Mark 10:12 When was it possible for a wife to divorce her husband?

You are talking about before Joseph and Mary were married. Granted the Hebrew betrothed was taken more seriously than our engagement customs.

That is a big bite! Do you believe that belief in Jesus Christ is required for the only true salvation and way to heaven? I vote for that one! I believe that most Christian denominations provide a path to salvation. lol Even Calvinism! But if that religion does not believe that Christ is a God...

Mark 10:12 When was it possible for a wife to divorce her husband?

On the question of when was it possible for a wife to divorce her husband? It is not entirely about what Christ said. Could they actually do it? I am looking for a historical event before the 1800's If you can provide one, that is what I am looking for. As far as modern divorce...I am of the...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

None of them wrote their own book and elevated it above Bible authority. That's a HUGE difference between Mormonism and the denominations started by these men. Yes a "modern" religion that has additional books....still within the spirit of Christianity and produces an application and character...

I have never thought you were completely Calvinist, too independent for that. One of my points is that, all organized religions we know of today were organized by men.....we can blame the men for their errors....not to many women organized religions.

Mark 10:12 When was it possible for a wife to divorce her husband?

I did not miss it entirely, I get what you saying about the OT. Understanding that the OT was a mess and it is not our religion. But the question is about the NT and if women could divorce....and if it really happened? The question, like I said, can expand to the whole conversion in the...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

What organized religions has not been started by men? Some worst then others. Augustine was of such poor character that he thought all humanity was without discipline and as sinful as he. And he wrote theologies based on that. Calvin is the same, but I would mostly describe him as an insane...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

a focus on any one scripture, particularly extremes can lead to misinterpretation of the meaning of the scripture or even the spirit of Christianity. Women are not save by child birth and washing feet....if we did not touch women, we would not be here talking....the lilies of the field do not...

Mark 10:12 When was it possible for a wife to divorce her husband?

Grailhunter, Moses was only a mediator. God allowed for divorce. Sorry, that is not what Christ said, and He indicated that was not what God wanted from the beginning. Now what you take from Christ's words, is up to you. And then we get into much of the Mosaic Law that was suppose to have came...

Mark 10:12 When was it possible for a wife to divorce her husband?

That is one of the points made. The procedures for divorce was a Mosaic Law. The Israelite were under the assumption that the Mosaic Laws were given by God. Christ casts a certain amount of doubt on that by sayings "Moses allowed you to divorce" and goes on to indicate that God did not like that...

Should Christians not participate in Halloween?

Halloween...just another Christian / Pagan holiday? As many probably know, when Christianity and the Roman Empire "merged" so did our cultures. Today most of our Christian holidays have a Pagan side. Depending on what country you live in, the Pagan side of the holidays are more obvious. Even...
