    The Christian Life

But how so you explain these verses? "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Matt 19:17 And then... "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be...

Is the Bible literal or figurative

Do you really believe that time in grade matters in the things of God? If that were the case we should all heed the words of our friend @BreadOfLife more closely and perhaps follow him as he would lead us back into the Catholic Church.

    Perfection In Christ

Indeed, God's crumbs are better than the best that any carnal man has to offer!

    Ecstasy

Your NIV still really says nothing essentially different. Your criticism of me is no response at all to my question. This is your thread and your position I am questioning. Have you no definitive answer from the scriptures using which ever Bible version you prefer? Does no answer on your part...

    Ecstasy

And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians...

    Ecstasy

Of course, we should always be living by knowledge rather than by faith..., right? "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." Rom 1:17 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."...

    Hate

Indeed, I see Paul as an apostle but also as a fallible man. The inspired scriptures do describe men with their sinful ways and their faults. The only one seen as faultless at all times would be Jesus Himself.

    Hate

I am glad it is so clear to you. That is certainly a bigger jump to a conclusion than I would make based on what those verses actually say: "And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark. But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from...

    Hate

At all times? Who was wrong when Paul and Barnabas bumped heads? Were both of them always speaking nothing but the Word of God according always to the perfect will of God? Sometimes God speaks His Word to us through the mistakes of people, does He not? Look at the many examples in the OT. Was...

    Why are you here?

Just one quick pass on this so as not go off on too much of a tangent from the OP. For some people who believe in the trinity [and/or Death More Abundantly] your words might not be offensive, but for others they can be seen as nothing but a condemnation of them. [Are they?] Hard and fast...

    Drawing the wrong conclusions

Yes, from other comments heard over time I believe his reference begins with the Ark built by Noah as a type or shadow. Everyone inside was saved from the flood on the outside. But within are men and beasts [2 types]. Are we able to carry that forward from the type or shadow to the reality?

    Drawing the wrong conclusions

But in this striving are we not required to use as fully as we are able all that God provides in the way of tools? Does God never provide for us additional tools for additional possibilities? Do we not limit God when we do not take hold of each new thing He set before us?

    Drawing the wrong conclusions

Yes, for each every person, but many never take hold of what would be theirs... if only they would.

    Drawing the wrong conclusions

I attended one place where a minister regularly would speak of remaining in the "ark of safety". Unfortunately, I never recall him trying to explain with or without scripture what that ark of safety was. Hopefully he knew what it was.

    Why are you here?

Somehow I had never posted my response to the OP on this thread, but my friend @bbyrd009 hit it pretty close for me. God sent me to learn and sometimes to impart. Thank God! He always knows what He is doing. If all of us could always follow Him, we would certainly then be one as He is One...

    Why are you here?

No one recognizes me anymore as an interviewer, but I remember when I first moved from a non-public Social Security office to a very public field office. I worked long hard hours in those days and met lots of people. They found my name and number in the phone book [no Internet in those days and...

    Why are you here?

Hopefully you are still around sometime to read this, my friend. We bumped heads here some but you were always kind in your treatment of me and others, even in the disagreements. We really would like to see you back if ever it is a possibility! Give God the glory!

    Southern border crisis

About the American military I know. I spent a year in South Viet Nam and 6 months in the Dominican Republic while on active duty supposedly for "good" purposes in both cases. The beasts are us or are in us... "She [Wisdom] hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also...

    Southern border crisis

You're not the first one to say that here, but you are the first one to at least address my questions or comments directly. I appreciate that. We have so much and they had only the devil's playground. We, as a nation, are more openly [deeper?] in that playground than what I was able to see as...
