Who said that Mary was NOT saved by Jesus Christ?? Were Abraham and Moses and Isaiah and the rest saved by Jesus Christ?? Didn't they live and die BEFORE Jesus?? You're fighting a losing battle here, Stranger . . .

Yes, yes and no. When a woman gives birth - she is the Mother of that child. Mary gave birth to Jesus - so she is His Mother. Jesus is God, so she is also the Mother of God. She is NOT the Mother of the Trinity. Simple deductive reasoning. Not that difficult to figure out, Stranger.

Honour thy father and thy mother

God is BOTH Father and Son??

Honour thy father and thy mother

Actually - I only mentioned the Catholic Church because we refer to "Holy Mother Church". This is not a new concept for us. I was't trying to debate - just to shed some light.

Honour thy father and thy mother

The Heavenly Jerusalem is the Church. The foundations of this "city" are the Apostles (Rev. 21:14). This is why Jesus told Peter that He would build His Church on HIM (Matt. 16:18). Gal. 4:26 is a good example as to why is why the Catholic Church refers to "Holy Mother Church".

    Christian Superstition

Why are you running from the question? I've already stated my position. I'm asking YOU how YOU interpret those verses.
  7. BreadOfLife

    Christian Superstition

That's a cop-out. Claiming that it's "not a big deal" doesn't make this matter less important. If you reject the doctrine of Transubstatiation or the teaching that Jesus commands us to eat His flesh and drink His blood - then you MUST have a reason for interpreting these passages differently.
  8. BreadOfLife

It's a contradiction because you claim to acknowledge that Jesus is God and Mary gave birth to Him - but she didn't give birth to God. I didn't say that Mary created Him - any more than YOUR mother created YOU, She gave BIRTH to Him, who is God - whether you like it or not.

This is a crock. If Mary was without sin - she absolutely needed a Savior because she didn't reach this state on her own. She was Kecharitomene because of GOD - not by her own power. And God can do WHATEVER He wills - to WHOMEVER He desires - your impotent objections notwithstanding . . .

    The proof of OSAS

The difference between you and her is that she may not know - but she doesn't claim to. YOU, on the other hand, claim to know what the Church teaches but are woefully-ignorant about it on this forum.
  11. BreadOfLife

    Christian Superstition

Soooo, how do YOU interpret John 6:53-56? And why do you interpret it this way?
  12. BreadOfLife

    The proof of OSAS

She should have told you not to misrepresent the Catholic Church so much. If you think I'm "not nice" - it's only because you spew falsehoods about the Church. For example, ByGrace and I have many wonderful exchanges - even though we don't agree doctrinally - because she doesn't lie.
  13. BreadOfLife

    The proof of OSAS

No you didn't. You just responded to me . . .
  14. BreadOfLife

    Co- Redemptrix

Fair enough. The one thing none of you are understanding is that we're not saying that Mary was sinless by her OWN doing. She needed a savior indeed - and that was GOD (Luke 1:47). Rev. 13:8 tell us that the Lamb was slain "before the foundations of the world." This means that the sacrifice...

And therein lies your contradiction . . .
  16. BreadOfLife

    The proof of OSAS

Yes, like most of your empty one-line responses. These offer nothing to the conversation.
  17. BreadOfLife

    Christian Superstition

If you believe that "accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior" and being obedient by following His commands is NOT something we do - then you have invented a different Gospel than that of Christ.
  18. BreadOfLife

    Christian Superstition

Wrong. Refusing or rejecting the Eucharist is disobedience. Luke 10:16 Whoever listens to YOU listens to ME. Whoever rejects YOU rejects ME. And whoever rejects ME rejects the ONE who sent ME." John 6:53-56 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of...

    The Inquisitions

The Orthodox were once part of the Catholic Church - and no, they don't have a Pope. This was the crux of their departure. The DO, however, have valid Apostolic Succession.

It's not even a matter of simple "disagreement". It'a a complete and total abdication of logic. If you are going to profess that Jesus is God - and Mary is His Mother - then you have to some to the conclusion that she gave birth to God. If you "disagree" that she did - then you ALSO must...
