    Why praise God

[ The failures are on the part of men involved. God does not fail, but men most certainly and always have since that first disobedience. Jesus is the only one who ever walked as a man of flesh on planet earth and never failed. He never failed because He always knew the Word of God [Was He not...

    Thoughts on Church Unity

I do not understand your mind or heart my friend. Even if we disagree on a point, it is surely not the end of the road for either of us, is it? Yes, God is omnipresent, but is there not a special presence in a believer that an unbeliever cannot have? Is this not what Jesus is saying in the verse...

    Thoughts on Church Unity

I would certainly not call it a "colloquialism". Rather, if I did not understand I would search to see and also ask God to show just what it means to have Jesus in our midst. The key that I was shown, was that the gathering of 2 or 3 is "in His name". When we understand what that means, probably...

    Healing

The good thing is that He is willing to share with us what is His. Give God the glory!

    Why praise God

Of course, we all know, or should know, that all healing is of God, whether a doctor is involved or not. When my pastor's wife had Pancreatic cancer 5 years ago, the oncologist who confirmed another doctor's diagnosis asked her if she believed in God. She told him, yes. He then told her to put...

    The Robots/Zombies !?

@twinc Then probably I have heard it and simply don't remember. I used to listen to old Bing Crosby songs even though many of them were popular before my time.

Those who are in Christ Jesus

This old thread brought to my mind a recent mention by someone about being "in Him". Being "in His name" is not so simple as saying His name, is it? Who knows His Name? How does one get into His name? Consider again the questions in the OP.

    The Robots/Zombies !?

LOL, twinc, it seems that it is so seldom that we agree, but I must agree with many "are busy, busy doing something finding lots of things not to do". Too busy to see what God has placed right in front of their faces.

    Racism on parade

But, we should not expect a lot from the UN as it is today. Fixing this world can only be done in accord with God, and generally speaking neither the UN nor the USA are on very good terms with Him at the moment. Will that be changed in the near future?

    Racism on parade

And where other than in the arms of God is such a "safe and welcome... uninhabited" place in this world, Twinc? When the Jews were fleeing the persecution of the Nazi's in Europe very few nations were willing to receive them... One of the greatest offenders was the United States. This happened...

    The Robots/Zombies !?

Being unfamiliar with the song twinc, I must plead ignorance. Perhaps ignorance is better than sinful knowledge... What do you think?

Who are 'the little children' Jesus talks about?

"For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns." Jerem 4:3 We must work with what we have, and this means improve it as we are able. Remember these verses: "And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also...

Who is the dogs and the swine.

Long ago when I first really seriously came to God, I learned to read the Bible and I was able to quote many verses just because I read them a lot. Then I backslid. After a very long period, I tried to come back to God. At first it seemed like He never would receive me. But He did and I have a...

    Arrogance

Consider the quote of C.S. Lewis in light of this verse written by the Apostle Paul: "[God] Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." II Cor 3:6 The "letter" alone is as I see it the...

Who is the dogs and the swine.

Amen, dear Sister, the apostle Paul under inspiration put it to words here: "Charity [Love in other translations] suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked...

    Racism on parade

Thanks, that is a subject I have never gotten into. When I was in college, I was not a Christian and my only US History course made little of no mention of religion, much less Christianity. I may dig into it a bit.

    Racism on parade

You will not get an argument from me on that. I understand the problem and it existed not only on the side of the south. The northern states gave more superficial freedom, but they certainly did not give equality treatment under law to the former slaves. But, slavery was hardly the only issue at...
