For by grace are ye saved through faith...

Amen, JM. We've been discussing this on my board as well. There's a lot more debate on the subject there though. Well written. Thanks.

    The Elect

I agree with Denver. Ephesians 1:3-6Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before...

    Amish

(For Life;19614) The Amish here drive Diesel F-350's and shop at Costco. Are they called something else if they do these kind of things? I live in the Nappanee, Indiana area which is highly populated with Amish. In fact, most of my neighbors are Amish. There are a group called Mennonite which...

    The Gap Therory

The entire theory sounds reasonable at least but I'm afraid I just can't buy it. There are many "reasonable" theories but I always ask the question: Can I prove it with the Word of God? If I cannot prove it with the Bible then I disregard it for fear of assuming more than I should. I've...

    4) Names written in the Book of Life of the Lamb

I'm actually working right now so I do not have time to read all of this (I will later though), but have you considered the book of life versus the Lamb's book of life? Perhaps there's a difference.

    Pontius Pilate

Well done. I LOVE the response of Pilate when they attempt to "correct" what he has written on the sign. I have written what I have written.

    Christian Forums

Yes. What is most discouraging is to see the Christian side acting that way. Paul wrote plainly, "Let brotherly love continue."

I think the hardest part in keeping believers and unbelievers from getting carrried away with one another is that they do not share a common foundation. They are coming from two different places. Now, if an unbeliever has questions, that's one thing. It's another to have them come to debate.

Need testimonials for a new site

What's your website? I wouldn't mind taking a look. I don't have it finished but I've been typing my testimony in segments on my personal blog. I'll send it to you when it's entirely finished.

    Five Smooth Stones

Amen. Another thought about the number five is that on occasion it may represent something incomplete. For instance, Matthew 25 talks of the 10 virgins, five were wise and five were foolish. Which if there's any validity to that then it makes sense that even though David was a good and...

    Five Smooth Stones

I've heard the four-brothers idea before. I've also thought those four extra stones might have represented David, the lowly mortal. He had the incredible faith in God to stand before this champion of the Phillistines with nothing but stones but in his own doubt of his own abilities, he carried...

    Five Smooth Stones

I've discussed this topic with friends in the past but I'd love to hear more thoughts on it. Why did David take with him five stones to face Goliath? Why not one? There may not be a proven answer to this question but it's interesting I think.1 Samuel 17:40And he took his staff in his hand...

Examples of Scientific Accuracy in the Bible

Thanks. I wasn't the one who first wrote these but as I've studied these points more and more, I can't say I agree totally either. I just love the endless amount of "neat stuff" to be found in the Word of God.

Examples of Scientific Accuracy in the Bible

When studying the science of the ancient world, one is more apt to be impressed with its ignorance than to admire its accuracy. However, the Bible offers a definite exception to this rule. The scriptures are replete with statements suggesting scientific knowledge which predates the corresponding...
