Yes,dear reader, don't believe a word Behold has written.
Read the Bible.
That is the word of God.
The 10 commands of God that were given to Moses are moral laws.
Reader, have you ever encountered someone who insists eternal security,Salvation, is a lie? They refer to it sometimes as, OSAS,Once Saved Always Saved. And insist eternal irrevocable Salvation is a falsehood because it means you have a license to sin?
The argument for, license to sin, was just published by Behold above.
It is unbiblical gymnastics using scripture. Which means it is no longer the word of God when you read his post.
It is the word of Behold.
And God tells us Behold will answer for every careless word there.
Romans 6:3-11 KJV
3) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7)
For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9) Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11) Likewise
reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:14 KJV
14)
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 7:4-6 KJV
4) Wherefore, my brethren,
ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
5) For
when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
6) But
now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Galatians 2:19 KJV
19)
For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
Galatians 3:10-14 KJV
10) For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11) But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12) And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14) That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
There is no doubt that the Bible teaches we either live according to Law or according to the Spirit of Christ, and we cannot do both. To live according to Law means we are not living according to the Spirit. And to live according to the Spirit means we are not living according to Law.
The Law falls far short of the Spirit of Christ within us. I'll use one example, the Law commands, "do not steal". But the Spirit goes far beyond that, teaching us not only to not steal, but to work extra than we need so we can give to others, as we live with others as family. The Law doesn't go that far.
And not only that. We can take the list of rules in the Law and apply them as best we know. But the Spirit within us can instruct us moment by moment toward how to best express God's love for others as we care for their needs, in ways the Law doesn't even begin to address.
If you want to look at more Scriptures, if you want to look in particular at certain ones, I'll be happy to go through them for you.
It's our desire to keep the Law that works against us, as the Law provokes the flesh,
the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
When we realize we are no longer governed by the Law, we will no longer be trying to direct our own steps as we endeavor to keep the list of rules, and we can live moment by moment trusting in Jesus to lead us to do what is good, and not do what is wrong.
This is NOT a license to sin, it's how God provides that we can stop sin. I know it can seem backwards, but it's very much in the Scriptures.
Much love!
