President Trump stated yesterday it was going to be immediate 25% tariffs on Mexico/Canada, time will tell?
The thing about tariffs? Government isn't paying it. Manufacturers who have often enough outsourced from America to another country due to the American tax incentives pay the tariff. And that expenditure by the manufacturer is recouped by them through the retail pricing of the merchandise the tariff applied to.
Trump isn't sticking it to the Mexican government when increasing tariffs. He's sticking it to consumers.

Hes sticking it to Mexico immediately, and the consumer will have a choice to pay a higher price while American business ramps back up
Trump will target specific commodities outside of food, cars, clothes, oil, steel, etc
It's my opinion everything will balance out, Japan protects their farmers and Agriculture with high tariffs

I'd love to see Made in America overtake Made in China.
Unfortunately,for certain things minimum wage would escalate retail rates regardless.
