---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Earth, this place is a pit! The Heaven that is waiting for us is a much better place. Look forward to a better place. Where we came from is imperfect. Jesus came from a long line of imperfect people. God uses imperfect people. God loves us where we are. He wants us to set our mind on things above and not on things on the Earth. That’s why God sent Jesus.

In our scripture, Jesus was sent to save the people from their sins. Joseph obeyed the angel God sent to him. He married Mary and adopted Jesus as his own son. This may not seem a big deal in our times, but back then when a couple was engaged they were considered to be married. The girl was to stay at her parent’s house and stay pure. Joseph remained with Mary when she was found to be pregnant. He first was going to quietly divorce her and not take her to the town elders and have her stoned to death. Joseph loved Mary and was an upright and a law abiding man.

God stepped in and sent the angel to tell Joseph that the baby was of the Holy Spirit and the child was to be named Jesus. Joseph was obedient to God, showed his trust in God and took the child as his own and named him Jesus. All this was done as the prophet said when he said a virgin will give birth to the Son of God and He would save the world. Jesus fulfilled 300 prophecies that God had told the prophets. This is part of the evidence that Jesus is the Son of God.

In Matthew verse 23 it states the prophecy of a virgin having a child named Immanuel, God with us. Joseph obeyed God, believed the prophecy and served God. He didn’t allow any circumstances to get in the way of him obeying God. Joseph didn’t listen to what other people said. No matter what your past is, you can set all of it aside and decide to be obedient to God. We should want to please God and want to live lives that honor God and serve Him. We want Jesus to teach us to love one another and love God better. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

AMEN
