”We want to tell you about the Word that gives life—the one who existed before the world began.
This letter is considered to be perhaps tagged along with John’s Gospel, an perhaps an introduction introspection on how John, sees the Lord Jesus, being the Word that gives life and existed before the world began.
This is the one we have heard and have seen with our own eyes. We saw what he did, and our hands touched him. Yes, the one who is life was shown to us. We saw him, and so we can tell others about him. We now tell you about him.
Speaking of the flesh and bones of Christ, and how they seen him, and seen what he had done. He is the one is life, which was shown to them. They seen him, in order to tell others about him, in order to tell the ones being addressed now about him.
He is the eternal life that was with God the Father and was shown to us.
He is the eternal life, the Word of God, that was with God the Father and was shown to them, by the Son of Man who was the expressed image of God, through the flesh, by the power of the Holy Spirit of God, and the Word of God within which is the eternal life.
We are telling you about what we have seen and heard because we want you to have fellowship with us. The fellowship we share together is with God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ.
This is important to relate with in seeing that John is telling them, that they are sharing together because the fellowship is with God (Yahavah) the Father and his Son Jesus.
We write these things to you so that you can be full of joy with us.
These things are written in order to be full of joy, with them in the good news which is the power of God which leads to salvation.
We heard the true teaching from God. Now we tell it to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness.
John, explains God is light and in him there is no darkness. However because of God and his existence, darkness also existed, but there is no darkness to be found in God.
So if we say that we share in life with God, but we continue living in darkness, we are liars, who don’t follow the truth.
John, encourages the people not be liars, who do not follow after the truth, when expressing that they share in life with God. Because of continuing to live in darkness, and not coming to God who is the light which draws away the darkness.
We should live in the light, where God is. If we live in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood sacrifice of Jesus, God’s Son, washes away every sin and makes us clean.
Fellowshipping with others, causes love, and washes away every sin and makes us clean, because of living in the Light where God is. Because the light is good, and living in the light can bring forth joy.
If we say that we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us.
John, claims that if we say that we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves. (All people fall into temptations and are weak and not impenetrable to falling into temptation; though God is faithful and will help you though.) When confessing our weaknesses it’s God who uses us, and we are forgiven for them. Even though they have been paid for by Jesus.
We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.
This message is one of great joy, in how godliness is profitable compared to walking in the darkness, and lying to oneself, continuing in it, and not coming to the Father whom is light, and who liberates us in the Lord Jesus Christ by the spirit. We can trust that as we continue to work with Yahavah, he continues to work with us, and he will continue to help us turn away from the wrong things which end up hurting others or ourselves.

If we say that we have not sinned, we are saying that God is a liar and that we don’t accept his true teaching.“
John continues on in the scroll in chapter 2, but concluded here is John states if we claim to we have not sinned we are saying God is a liar, and we don’t accept his true teaching.
