Well, if we are Christians ourselves, we need to include the Almighty in our assessments of history and current events I would think. And have our ears at HIS doorpost to know what is going on, what the FATHER is doing. He is the one who raises and lowers kings and kingdoms after all. If the LORD of heaven and earth has decided to judge and chastise a sinful and unrepentant nation or civilization then we can vote and attend political rallies and support politicians til the cows come home and only find we are going from the frying pan to the fire. This is what God's word teaches, but do we believe it? God's own people are exchanging obedience and faith in Him for the arm of the flesh.....just adding sin to sin. Should not God punish for this? And should we have more fear of socialist boogey-men than we have of the Lord God Almighty? Christians chastise and name-call and rebuke their brothers and sisters (in the Lord, not in a political party) for critiquing their favourite politicians, but where are the rebukes and calls for repentance and turning from sin in the camp? Where is the fear of God? Shouldn't the church be about the FATHER's business? Instead it has chosen to be ensconced in the seat of earthly government now, and the people love to have it so. This is a way that seemeth right to deceived man but leads to......not life.
History and the bible show us that evil is and has always been around in this world, since the fall, and always threatening and trying to take over......it is only the Lord who can protect us and keeps evil at bay at any time or for any nation, when He is blessing it. And my we have had a blessed couple of generations or so in the west, but it seems to have only spoiled and deceived the church to forget God just like Israel of old did in her apostasy. So unless we repent we can expect the same judgments in the apostate west, since God is not a respecter of persons or nations and Israel is our example that we were supposed to take warning from.
It's more like they who turn from God are set to reap what they have sown !

Blessing ? is in regard one who is Blessed ? Not a Nation, a Nation can be blessed in regards something or things, but within a Nation is the cursed as well ?
The Lord protects no one, as in because you believe, so you think that you can walk across the road without looking out ?
You can be prepared tho, as such has given you understanding to deal better with such things, because you do understand what such truly is ? in that way yes the Lord gave you that wisdom to be wise, that is a Blessing.
Say a group of People, lets just say 2000 for argument sake, sure it can be much more. but say 50% are for X and the rest are for Y ? well all will reap what has been sowen ?
but if all or majority were for X well then you will reap that was sowen !
