Mathew 12:20 and Isaiah 42:3 talk about a bruised reed that He would not break and a smoldering wick that He would not snuff out.
I remember when this was a new verse to me, it meant that even though I was a mess, Jesus would not condemn me.
It meant that He accepted me.
Lord, help us to remember what it was like when we first realized how much You loved us.

A prophecy of Jesus Truman, he did have great compassion. Matthew applied those words of Isaiah to Jesus: “No crushed reed will he break, and no smoldering wick will he extinguish.” (Isa. 42:3; Matt. 12:20) Jesus spoke in a way that lifted the spirits of those who were figuratively like a bruised reed or the wick of an oil lamp about to go out. He preached a message of hope “to bind up the brokenhearted.” (Isa. 61:1) He invited those who were “toiling and loaded down” to come to him, reassuring them that they would “find refreshment” for themselves. (Matt. 11:28-30) He assured his followers that God had tender concern for each of His worshippers, including the “little ones”—those who may seem unimportant from the standpoint of the world.—Matt. 18:12-14; Luke 12:6, 7.

I have been a Christian for many years sir, and like you mentioned having that love we had when we first discovered the truth, most of us long to have it again. But of course his love does not change for us, nor does Gods, moth and rust cannot destroy those treasures we have laid up in heaven sir.

Amen!!

Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV
14) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I'm still a mess!! And with every reminder of that, is the knowledge that Jesus knows how I feel as I see the works of my flesh.

In my mind, "humility" means being honest with yourself, and others, about yourself.

Isaiah 66:1-2 KJV
1) Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?
2) For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

Poor, contrite, trembling. That's me!

Much love!
