8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - 2 Corinthians 12:8-9.
When I have moved from one type of ministry to another through the years, I have found out that "my grace is sufficient." Was my moving at one time or another the cause of coming to know his sufficiency of Grace? Not particular, what was happening was I could see that I didn't have to do anything for "my grace is sufficient." That does not mean you don't do anything it simply means you move from grace to grace and in doing so you learn 'his grace is sufficient.' learning grace like any other thing you learn, it has to be taught to you. My experience is no one learns grace on their own it must be taught to you. Some of our best spiritual leaders cannot teach Grace, it can be preached and believers can know it exsists but they have to learn it on their own.
There is a truth in God that the scriptures declare and that is; every believer is on a individual learning curve if you will. That means our father will lead you as an individual into his knowledge of grace. Believers are dealt with on a individual level, we are encouraged to gather as a group but your knowledge will be what causes "the sufficient Grace understanding." What happens is you learn grace and know it does not happen by your doing or by your knowledge. His grace is sufficient period. There is no adding to it, it is taught to you by the Spirit and you learn a new way of living.
I used to feel we needed to have a crowd all worked up to get results. The arena I was in believed very strongly about laying on hands and believing for the situation. I still believe that but now I know his grace is sufficient and I don't have to work someone up in their faith or what not to have the same result. The result is; His grace is sufficient no matter what you do. How was Paul handled at this point? in his weakness he learned "my grace is sufficient. It is not the strength of man, matter a fact man's strength will be his downfall. It may lead to weakness but man in his strength is a hindrance. Bless you as you grow in grace and knowledge moving from faith to faith!
