My wife shared a point from her devotional reading.

"You praise until the spirit of worship comes,
you worship until the glory comes,
then you stand in the glory."
- Ruth Ward Heflin

- Praise
- Worship
- Glory
- Stand

What it means to me.
Praise is the obedient action that we use to enter worship, our part, an invocation.
God responds by filling our praise with the spirit of worship, His part, to connect with us and receive the praise.
When this happens, the glory comes, that is the presence, or glory of God.
Then we stand in that glory, the presence of God. Soaking up all that he has for us that day, or that week.

Like a spiritual battery charger. Perhaps we need to view ourselves as rechargeable batteries in the spiritual sense.
Coming back to the fire to rekindle afresh the glory and presence of God in our lives. And live in the outflow.

John 7:38 NIV
Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Like that! To the Point.

Understanding… “Standing”.
* Scripturally from the Beginning…
*Aspect of a man, “STANDING WITH” God.
*Invokes God “STANDING WITH” “a” man.

A “New Testament” revealed, Offered;
“a” man “STANDING” “WITH and IN” …

—CHRIST (the Seed and Power of God)
—JESUS (the Word, Truth, Life of God)
*Invokes “the Seed, Power, Word, Truth, Life “Of God” “STANDING” “WITH and IN”…
“WITHIN” a man.

Utterly AMAZING… (how one little word… “IN” magnifies, secures, a mans “STANDING”
* From the limited, unsecured, “WITH”
“TO”…
The “Secure, Eternal “STANDING WITH” God… And God Eternally “STANDING WITH” that man.

God bless you.

Glory to God,

Thanks.
But let's not miss the point.

The point is that praise leads to worship that ushers us into the presence of God.
To experience the tangible and refreshing presence of God.

To me this is a more complete progression, it is however unlikely to be adopted.

This is because many institutions see praise and worship as a means of 'sanctifying the space' so the delivery of the Word which follows is less hindered.

This is a sad development as it cancels the possibility of gathering as a family and rejoicing together around what God is doing first.

I agree that seems to be the pattern of how it may go when we "press in" (though I wonder if it may be subject also to God's will and wisdom at the time for each one...?). But I would like to mention a caution about "seeking the presence of God" as opposed to simply seeking God for His own sake. We of course need Him, but seeking experiences for their own sakes can become a self-serving, man-centred, feel-good thing......which can lead to unwanted consequences spiritually speaking. It was so grieving to watch this happen in the Renewal movement at Toronto Airport church in the late 90's, with the result that the Holy Spirit departed and they were left with another spirit.

We can be so apt to make it about us, but need to remember that we were made for God, not the other way around. There are times and seasons when He chooses not to "show up" in ways that we can feel......we want to remain faithful and maintain faith and confidence in the Lord in those times too.

This came to mind.

Isaiah 55:6 NIV
Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call on him while he is near.

Maybe the issue is that some think we need to put God on display experientially.

Yet John 17 says they will see him by our communal unity.

Returning to first love would be a better way to display Him by how we look after the least.

Ever wonder why a great power needs a lesser being to give it praise for being the great power?

Why the lesser being with all its faults there because the great power made it that way, then judges its actions.
And will only save it if it first lifts the incapability to understand its words so that it can and does?

And those free will choices ,those it would change in mind so to understand and be saved, of that great power were predestined before that power created that individual.

What does obedience of a lesser being do for a higher power? When the lesser being was made first to be disobedient.

Which doesn't change unless the lesser being has been predestined to have the disobedience lifted so they may come into compliance.

Imagine us laying down rules for mice to follow. Expecting worship, punishing disobedience. Because we expect mice to aspire to a greater behavior than what is typical of mice.

That's a great question.

The typical Christian view is that we are worthless maggots and God doesn't need anything from us.
But if you ask the question you asked, they would most likely be offended.

I'd agree.
We're scum and all acts of righteousness are like filthy rags, yet as those in Christ we are expected to perform righteous acts, good deeds, work.

The faith men contrive today does nothing to nourish our self worth. It's sad.

Carl, I think the poster is referring to how the church makes us feel. I inserted [BY THE CHURCH] in the quote.

Agree.
This is a real problem in the church today.

No - we have given Him permission to indwell us and work out His righteousness through us.
I agree this is the proper approach. But it is in a relationship with God. Not what the church is usually up to.

No - we have given Him permission to indwell us and work out His righteousness through us.

God tells us our natural mind cannot understand the things of God because they are spiritually discerned.

We would not then be able to give permission to the Holy Spirit to indwell us because such things are considered foolishness by our natural mind.

I think this is why God tells us he predestined those he elected, chose, to indwell. Because our natural fallen state of consciousness cannot comprehend the immensity of what being indwellt means.

Please explain what you mean by, God works out his righteousness through us.
