I would say it is because all three are monotheistic-believe in only one God.

Yes, Ishmael and Isaac were Abraham's sons. As Pearl said, Abraham was the father of the Islamic nation through Ishmael, and the Jewish nation through Isaac. And Jesus was Jewish.
