18:5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

Paul was preaching faith in Jesus to the Jews, that He is Christ; the Messiah of Israel.

18:6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

Israel was diminishing by it's rejection of Christ. Once again Paul warned that he would go to the Gentiles.

One of the major enigmas of Scripture is the rebellion and disobedience of Israel and the Jews despite the fact that every possible material and spiritual blessing was afforded to them by God and Christ. It is noteworthy that as regards the Gospel, the Gospel was to be first preached in Jerusalem and Judea. And even though Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles, he made it a consistent practice to visit every synagogue throughout the Roman empire, and preach the Gospel to the Jews first.

I was thinking that in spite of the failings of Israel, God will establish his future glory
Look at these passages in Ezekiel

Eze 36:25 - Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Eze 36:26 - A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Eze 36:27 - And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

There is a future for Israel
God will do for Israel what Israel in the flesh, and of itself, could never do.

Exactly. Not in the flesh, but in the spirit, for Jesus has "gone to the Father" (whom "is spirit"), and Israel with Him, whom are "the dead in Christ." These now are "the times of the gentiles" and "the living in Christ", "those who are alive and remain", "the last who are first", but "do not precede those who are asleep", which is Israel "the first who are last."
