AL QAIDA SEEKS RECRUITS IN N. AFRICAFebruary 10, 2007The Middle East Newsline reports: “Al Qaida has sought to use North Africa to acquire recruits for suicide bombings in Iraq.The Moroccan intelligence community has concluded that Al Qaida has not targeted North Africa for regional operations. Intelligence sources said that instead the Al Qaida network has been recruiting Algerians, Moroccans and other young Muslims from the region for suicide bombings in Iraq.‘They get on a flight to Turkey and within a week they could be on a suicide operation,’ a senior official said.The official described the Al Qaida recruitment effort in Morocco.
