Interesting point about the Northern and Southern kingdom; there came the time when they just couldn't walk together. Thanks...
Can it be applied similarly today to the various sects/groups called churches or denominations?

Can it be applied to some of the more controversial beliefs held such as OSAS versus non-OSAS, or Trinity versus non-Trinity, or eternal torment versus no eternal torment, etc...

How far apart are they from each other? As result of these separations have some both sides of each question found themselves due to their lack of charity to also be unable to really walk together with God?

@amadeus I'm sure there are strong applications there. What we can also remember in the context is that Christian fellowship, properly understood doctrinally, is a New Testament matter rather than an Old Testament one; this verse in Amos is more of a general principle, albeit with very wide application.

I am hoping someone reading here will see the application to himself without regard to which side an issue he stands.

Who has seen the unbreakable three fold cord which Jesus describes in Matthew chapter 6? Alms, prayer and fasting! Why do you suppose Jesus detailed those three particular things?

"Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" Amos 3.3

Food for thought...

"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." Ecc 4:9-12

"Can two walk together, except they be a greed?"
Isn't that another name for business as usual?
