Vytorin, a newer cholesterol lowering which is not a stain, had disappointing results as statistics claimed it did not really do any better to prevent heart disease. You may best remember Vytorin as that irritating commercial with a stringed orchestra playing and picking in the background and they said you "have two sources of cholesterol": your family and what you eat.I don't know how many people noticed, but I have been dropping comments here and there lately that high cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease and I also claimed that "medicines that lower numbers are basically worthless". I must admit, I snickered when I saw this study. No, actually, I did not snicker---- I rolled on the floor with uncontrollable laughter. Now the doctors say that people will have to return to statins. I'll tell you what. Don't bother with that, either. There are so many lawsuits now over them that it is not funny----- mainly does muscular and nerve damage.Rather, if you want to treat cholesterol, treat the basic cause of it---- poor health in the arteries. Probably one contributing factor is improper nutrition. The B-vitamin niacin helps lower it (watch out for the flushing however) as does Inositol and Choline. Also get lots of vitamin C, not just the RDA which is way too low. As a matter of fact, take all of the vitamins and minerals with a healthy diet, and yes, a healthy diet besides fruit and vegetables includes eggs (WITH THE YOKES) and some meat as well as we need fats, too. Stay away from man-made or man-altered stuff and eat what God gave instead. Here's a link, and also check the "cholesterol myth" link at the bottom of that article. If I can get some people away from expensive do-nothing-but-damage drugs, it will be worth it. Vytorin
