I know that we're supposed to welcome foreigners into our lands. Does that include immigrants that, not only reject Christianity, but who might like to turn America into, for example, an Islamic caliphate?

How about regular Christian Mexican immigrants? Yes, I know we're supposed to welcome them but, to my knowledge, migrants in Israel (during the time of Jesus) weren't put on welfare at the expense of its citizens. I support immigration for a variety of reasons, but I do NOT support unlimited immigration and the concept that, I am indentured to pay for another's housing, medical, food, education and legal representation when they break the law.

Once upon a time immigrants came to America and they expected nothing and got nothing, at least not from the government. They worked hard, assimilated and succeeded. Nowadays, it's entirely different. I support immigrants who come here LEGALLY and who work and pay for themselves.

Am I wrong?

I agree with you that controlled immigration is very important. Immigrants need to be vetted so that we don't allow those who want to destroy America into our country....

So what do you say to people who say that you are obligated per the teachings of Jesus to welcome ALL immigrants, even if that means you are financially on the hook for ALL of them?

I did a Bible search on this topic. The following two verses talk about welcoming strangers (not specifically immigrants). Most of the verses I found are instructing believers as individuals to care for other believers and/or care for the needy. I don't believe this includes people who come into our country to kill and destroy. After all, we are to be "wise as serpents and innocent as doves" (Matt 10:16).

Matthew 25:35

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,...

Hebrews 13:1-2
Let love of the brethren continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

One night, recently, my son and I drove into a McDonald's drive-thru one evening and some rough-looking guy approached my car. I immediately put my hand on my handgun that I keep under the arm rest. He started to ask me if I could help him and I immediately and tersely told him that I could not. Moments later I felt bad because I know that I'm supposed to help those who ask for it. After we went through the line I saw the man sitting at an outdoor table, eating. I asked him if I could help him and he said someone else accepted his money and bought him food. All he wanted me to do was to buy him some food with his money as they won't serve people who are not in a car. I told my son that I was wrong to not help that man.

Immigrants are people. Your fight is not against flesh and blood. Your own government is infinitely more dangerous, hence the checks and balances written into the constitution. I think your founders knew who the real threat was. While focusing on Islam and communists and socialists and BLM the real enemy is sitting back taking full advantage of the lack of attention.

True, a Christian's sworn enemy is the devil. We don't wrestle against flesh and blood (people), but against spiritual principalities and powers... (Ephesians 6:12).

But our nation has to deal with enemies from within and without who want to destroy our republic, which was created to serve the people. I believe that it's important for Christians to pray for our nation and be involved politically as the Lord leads us. It's important to hold our leaders accountable when they try to take too much power. Like you said, our government represents a balance of power. I have seen members of all three branches abuse their power in different ways. Some politicians think nothing of snubbing their noses at the Constitution, even though they took an oath to uphold it. I believe that it's important to be aware of the issues and to know how those who represent us in government at all levels (local, state, and national) make decisions that affect these issues, especially issues that affect our families/children.

Years back, the majority of people in government were Christians. That is no longer true. The majority of people in government today serve the Democratic Party, which in turn, serves Satan.

It seems that in the past many Americans thought they were Christians simply because they lived in America. This is no longer the case, and even though I miss the more Christianized America, I think it's good that we don't assume that all Americans are Christians. The dividing line is getting thicker by the day. And yes, we do see this in the Democratic Platform that supports all sorts of evil. Sadly, they have become the anti-God party by their own admission.

I wish America was more like Little House on the Prairie. Remember that show?

The Democrat Party seems to have changed. Democrat John F. Kennedy said: "Ask not what your Country can do for you; ask what you can do for your Country!"

Today, Democrats run on a different tune: "America is unfair, America is Racist... we will make things right by taking from the White Christian Heterosexual Males, and "re-distribute" their wealth, and we will all be equal and happy!" They now run on the concept: "Ask not what you can do for your Country; ask what your Country can do for you!"

Watch reruns just about every day. That and The Waltons. :)

I'm afraid I would miss technology too much--internet, computer, cell phone, satellite TV, etc.
