...yet sex was never a part of her actual life or relationship .
If sex was never part of the equation, then gay/homosexual does not apply to the situation. Why did she call herself gay if that was the case?

And if the OP does not have any venereal inclinations whatsoever, then why is anyone suggesting that he is gay/homosexual? That is not what gay/homosexual means. And broadening its meaning in such fashion only serves to minimize a sin that God is clear about.

Further, if the OP is looking for a platonic relationship with someone he has not even met, yet, why would their gender matter.

The point at which Homosexuality becomes a Sin is the same point at which when I lust after a woman in my mind , “ that” becomes a sin—— the thought is as bad as the deed....if I look upon a woman with lust,I have already committed Adultery with her in my heart.....I do it every day.....makes me glad my sins are covered as “Jesus Lives to constantly be my Advocate”........Especially when I don’t deserve it...
To merely harbor an impure thought is a sin....it is forgiven if you are a Believer .....
Now to actually * ACT* upon that thought will get you Chastised .....that Act is forgiven also, but you will pay the price here on Earth .....it has nothing to do with Salvation....that was a Gift, remember? A Gift Given to any Sinner That has turned to God as a Lost Man or woman who has Trusted Jesus to Save them ....” Anybody that Asks to be Saved WILL be Saved”.....
Homosexuality is considered to be an “ Abomination”......Homosexuals, like any other Sinner, need to admit that they are Sinners and ask God to save them —— and He will.....it’s a Promise..... turn to God , with Faith in Jesus, and God will give you a New Heart with New Desires.....and when you “ Stumble” , as we All do .....well, that is what Grace is for—- it’s bigger than all of your sins.....When you Sin, the remedy is to go to the “ Throne Of Grace”—- and you go there BOLDLY! Your “ Boldness” will be in direct proportion to your Faith in the Blood ......” Where sin abounds, Grace super abounds”.......Don’t get your panties in a knot, all of you Legalists out there.....Nobody can sin and get away with it.....Sin will be Chastised.....and one might be a Sinner who escapes Hell like a man the Bible describes as one who “ barely escapes a house that is on fire” and stands ashamed and trembling before God on Judgement Day, but if any person ever did what the Sinful Publican did and with a Contrite Heart, cried out to God , “ Have Mercy on me , a Sinner! —— just like that evil tax collector, he will be “ Justified” —- Forgiven and Saved forever....it’s not called “ Amazing Grace” for no reason.....

When you look at someone with inappropriately carnal thoughts (in your case, homosexuality), a demon of lust enters your eye. Do what Jesus suggested, and pluck the eye out. Or in other words, avert your gaze from someone that you might find tempting! Keep distance between you and them. Remove anything from your house that is perverted, pornography, photos or phone numbers of individuals you have an illicit interest in: in these things the demon makes its nest! When you see them, you become troubled by them, so that demon is always on your mind. And above all, never stop praying, even when you falter, because through prayer God will lessen your burden of temptation.

I apologize if this triggers or is offensive to anyone.

At what point does the condition of homosexuality become a sin?

Is it a sin simply to be homosexual? To have the capability of being attracted to men?

Is it a sin to just see a man who I could be attracted to?

Is it a sin to dwell on the sight with no accompanying thoughts?

I know it would be a sin to then actively fantasize.

I have been praying for healing for 47 years. I do not believe that one can be born a homosexual. However, there was never a time when I made the choice to be this way. It was there before I even knew that homosexuality existed. There is no "switch" to turn it off.

I need hope. I want to know that I am not guilty of sin for just seeing a man. That is unavoidable. I am not looking for an excuse to sin; I want to stop condemning myself for something I have no control over.
What I hear you saying is that, even if you did "clean the outside of your cup", you are all too aware of the dirtiness inside.

I can't tell you that what you feel inside is okay, though I know that's what you wanted to hear. But I can say that I, and every one of us on this board, have those secret sins in our hearts that we must keep suppressed, whether it's heterosexual lust, materialistic desires and greed, pride and arrogance, selfishness, murder in our hearts... I don't know if we CAN "clean the insides of our cups". I do know that God can do that.

Did you know that God loves you, dirt and all?

Did you know that God sent His only-begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for those sins that we can't fix so we must try to hide them?

I want you to trust God to keep on loving you. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) Do the best you can with what you've been given. But if you do stumble, you can trust this promise: "And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." (1 John 2:1b-2) Trust God that eventually He WILL clean us up, whether in this world or when Jesus comes back.

Remember, trust that God loves you and has forgiven you. And me. In the end, that's all you and I have to hang onto.

I'm going to add,

Therefore, there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

You didn't ask for prayer, but I felt compelled to pray for you anyway.

Now trust God, and start walking.

Fleeing temptation is not "suppression." It is surrendering to the better Master.

"Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey,
you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether
of sin leading to death, or
of obedience leading to righteousness?" Romans 6:16 NKJV

Sabertooth, you don't understand.

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew 5:27-28)

A man might avoid sleeping with a woman, but he cannot flee from what's in his own heart.

Keebordmehn knows what's in his heart, and it condemns him. Jesus offers forgiveness, and with forgiveness comes the chance for healing.

for this kind of sin, you'll have to ask God for forgiveness every time you lust with your eyes unintentionally. That's where God will forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness if you confess your sins to Him.

The Bible talks about the love of Jonathan and David being greater than the love of women. That's two men, with love for each other.

What is wrong ("sin" in other words), is violating that relationship (carnally). As the Bible says "[women] exchanged the ‘natural use for the unnatural’ and men too " (paraphrase Romans 1:26-27).

There is a way to keep yourself pure, despite the temptation to lust - but you will have to contact me privately, to share it, for reasons I can't go into here.

The point is, God does not abandon you to your desire, neither should you abandon your homosexual partner to the flesh.
I find it interesting how people will twist scripture. Just because the scriptures say that the love of David and Jonathan being greater than the love of women doesn't mean they had homosexual tendencies between them.

Since we are all born into Sin, that is really a chicken-or-egg question. Even if you never cross some imaginary line that you propose, you will still die in all the other sins that you have already committed unless you get Born Again.
You don't need a specific law to rein you in.
You need a new heart!

I recommend these churches for dealing with homosexual inclinations,
(Links above are locators.)
The scriptures say that if a man lies down with another man like a man lies down with a woman they(both men) are to be put to death.(Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13) So God punished those people who were caught having sex with another person of the same sex worthy of the death penalty. We don't have the death penalty because the law covenant was an agreement that God made with the Israelites (Jews). That doesn't mean God has changed his view of how detestable he views those practicing homosexuality. God views the practice of homosexuality as being disgusting and detestable just as he view in the past. One must decide if he/she loves God so much that they will exercise faith that God knows what's in the best interests of what he created. So since God detests homosexuality a person who truly loves God enough should not practice homosexuality because they love God enough too exercise faith that God knows what's best for how humans should behave toward one another. So having sex with a person of the same sex is not in the best interests of humanity.
