I don't believe these scriptures apply to the 21st century, rather they were speaking to the generation of Adam and Noah.

Gen 1:28 NIV God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Gen 9:7 NIV As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it."

Are there any other verses in Genesis 1 that do not apply to us in the 21st century?

There are other ways to be fruitful and multiply. Such as in the parable of the three servants.

The command in Genesis is telling people to subdue the earth and have children to increase in number. Yet Paul advocated in 1 Corinthians 7:8 that it is better for some to remain unmarried, and Jesus in Matthew 19:10–12 did the same. Were they contradicting God's command to increase in number? No, because pay attention to what Jesus said at the end of Matthew 19:12 "for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it."

God also values spiritual fruit and increasing the number of souls in his kingdom. When you subdue the earth you are blessed with material wealth, but its only lasting value is in the friends you make by it who also inherit eternal life. Luke 16:9.

But of course it is possible to have children and help the kingdom to grow. It even goes hand in hand when you teach your children the way of the Lord.

True. I do like this one..Matt 19:12 NIV For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

What does it mean to "subdue the earth".

In the old meaning it would be to clear farmland, plant crops, raise animals, and protect those from the wilds.

Is there a new meaning? Like paying bills, going to your 9-5.

Perhaps it can extend to include the obligation to work, but we would have to stretch the context. Providing for one's family is commanded elsewhere in the bible.

If you consider the world in a spiritual sinse there are many more wilds to subdue.

21st Century being fruitful and multiplying is spreading the gospel which Adam and Eve were also responsible to do since they were covered by Christ.

Be fruitful and multiply

According to a 2002 study[5] by the Jewish Agency,
"the number of Jews in the world is declining at an average of 50,000 per year."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_population

I could do the math but this is a sliding scale and the end is inevitable unless they change their ways.

And somewhere in the KJV there is a verse that states; “And Thy Shall Be No More Remembered”

As a bystander, all I can do is ask the "Israeli's" to change their ways and embrace those who are not theirs

As you were asked to do so very long ago.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,..,

.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,What say you-?

It's doable :)-
