Well the question was asked. Now one little question, you know the easter story of Jesus carrying His cross, falls down than His cross is given to another. Well lets see what teh bible says.

Mathew
Mat 27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
Mat 27:32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

Mark
Mar 15:20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
Mar 15:21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

Luke
Luk 23:25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
Luk 23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
Luk 23:27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

John
Joh 19:16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
Joh 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

Seems that another carried our Lords cross, so which is right, 3 out of 4 in agreement or missing some detail but nowhere does it say Jesus fell down, that is what religions has stuffed into our heads. You see in teh end of it all, if you are willing to take up your cross, guess who does the carrying for you...

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light

And surely He does if you are willing.

That is why studying and listing to men is such a problem you are told thing and when you read you can often read whats not there, its teh problem we have with this fleshy thing called a brain, which is why there are so many word puzzles floating around demonstrating this,

I would agree, what is the question you are addressing there mjrhealth? you are correct though about preconceived notions. we trust what we have been taught and then read that into what we read thinking that is what it means, and yes we are easy targets. the serpent knew that in the garden, and its still true today.

we see what we are thinking, but is what we are thinking correct? no of course not, Jesus is correct, and the rest of us are to acknowledge that, and follow Him.

but I would ask you since Jesus said this :
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

then how is it that His yoke is so easy yet His yoke lead to the crucifixion on the Cross?

Good point, that did cause me to pause a moment.
So, what was His yoke?
I would say it was His will to finish the will of The Father...'for the joy that was set before Him..He endured....'
Which is what He has called us to...."follow His steps".

The yoke is only "easy" while we walk in step with Him...when out of step it chafes. Our cross burden is only light when shared with Him..He carries the "heavy" bit.

Re OP ...most pictures ( or even movies) of the journey to the hill show Jesus carrying the whole cross..( man's idea) yet in reality we all know that it was impossible...man could only carry the crossbeam , and the upright Posts were already up there.

But that said...I do remember seeing a movie in Sunday school when young...of Jesus struggled under the whole cross...it made me cry...I guess God can ( and does) use anything to speak to our hearts.

well consider ByGrace, Jesus went strictly by the Judgement of the Father in what was good for Him, therefore when one does so one doesn't worry for their standing before God, one doesn't have to justify one's self, one doesn't have to be right when he knows God's Judgement is always right and just, and the Father is pleased for sure. though yes in Jesus' case He came into the world to accomplish the Cross, but every child of God has that same liberty in Christ and Peace with the Father in who's approval is paramount.

without looking it up, if my memory serves, didn't Jesus tell us to lay down our lives and take up the cross? hence we laydown our lives by not going by our own judgement of what is good for us, and live by the Father's Judgement of what is good for us.
