what is the best explanation for what happens to the souls of the people who died long before the times of jesus, the bible, and christianity such as the ancient aztecs who practiced human sacrifice or the incas who worshiped the sun? how were they to get into heaven when the only way is through jesus and he hadnt even been born?

I Peter 3:18-19
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
Everyone has a chance, and there is much more to it than the above verse, but Father transcends time, so he has the ability to move as needed and each person will have an opportunity by close of the millennium.
