Being a Discerner of Prophets and Knowing the Difference Between Them2 Chronicles 18:5) Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king's hand.2 Chronicles18:6) But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might inquire of him?2 Chronicles 18:7) And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. 2 Chronicles 18:22) Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee. “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” “For many shall come in my name, saying I am the Christ; and shall deceive many.” Now how many claim what they don’t have? “for that day shall not come, except there be a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”. The “falling away” symbolizes the great departure of many from the faith, whether it be by abandonment of principles, false doctrine, or just lack of knowledge. We know that everything written in this book shall come to pass, in today’s world especially, where people have made void God’s law and have cast aside his commandments. Now how many preachers, pastors, ministers, have not been transformed, manipulated, and influenced by worldliness, being politicians more then servants of God, giving the people what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear? “And we know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin”; Jesus Christ our Lord, who “was in all pointed tempted like as we are, yet without sin”. Now we aren’t perfect, but aren’t we called so “that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service”? Worldliness dulls the senses and spiritual discipline. “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil” and “lean not unto thine own understanding”. “Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes. ”, aren’t we urged not to lean on our own understanding so many times? So how would we trust in man, “cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.” Discernment, “thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars” We can’t let our guard down. “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” A real prophet shall turn people away from their sin. Jeremiah 23:22) But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.)) And what fruit do they bear themselves? “A good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit, neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.” Can one bring both, no, either one or the other. If they abide not in his commandments, how can he know God? 1 Timothy 3:2-7“A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. ”The bible puts these standards for a reason and when applied correctly, make a powerful discerning tool. Verses like these indicate a prophet’s trueness.

2 Chronicles 18:22 reads as such in the German translation:Nun siehe, der HERR hat einen falschen Geist gegeben in dieser deiner Propheten Mund, und der HERR hat Böses wider dich geredet.Few people seem to realize that in the paranormal world the spirit called the poltergeist is really demonic in origin as the spirit is named in German after such. Sometimes the bible seems alien to secular people who otherwise may be familiar with paranormal and worldly terms but not biblical. So, I've actually been calling powerful demonic entities poltergeists so that they understand. There's other names based on what they do such and their characteristics such as Mördergeists, Dunklergeists (which are notorious at Christmas time and shadow entities) and so on.
