These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. - Acts 17:11.
What we do as Christians is; when Christ is being fixed in you (mind), we belabor the scriptures. We look into the scriptures and find something I must do, and immediately we think - I better do that - I need to do that. That is belaboring the scriptures! I don't know the word (I'm learning the word - Christ in you..but), so I must do what scripture says to do. There in is where your trouble started. We were never to do what is written.
What is written is for your knowledge of the word in you - life application.. you see the word working in you. You learn the word. We see Jesus in scripture.. and he is the one in you that is the do-er. It was never God's Intention that men live by scripture.. there is no life in scripture - apart from Christ in you, the word.
It is meant for you to see the word in you as the perfection of God. How are you made perfect? by the perfect one in you - be ye perfect as I am perfect. In your spirit is a perfect union.. union is two making a complete part.. the whole. The whole sums up the matter! Putting scripture together the way scripture is intended. And that will take the only one that can do that in you - the Holy Spirit.
When we go outside the word (Christ in you), you will always find yourself doing something in scripture. You - yourself doing something scripture says we must do. James is a good example of doing something. We all quote James when we back up our doing something in scripture! And usually you can find someone that will do it with you. Agree to do what it is scripture says to do. At least for a while. All of us have had success doing what scripture says to do.. but that doing has only lasted for so long we find out.
Have you ever stood on the scriptures? What happens to you? You get whooped everytime. Why is that - it is not you that should be doing that.. it is Christ in you that is the do-er. And many fall by the wayside - at that moment when they say ''I can't do it.. I've tried and it just don't work for me." I have heard that many times.. I have said it myself. Because when you try to apply scripture to yourself, you will fail if you do not see perfect union in the scriptures.
