In the surrounding culture, if men had wants and desires, they kind of didn't matter. It took time to learn to value pleasing my husband and not only worrying about my own wants being addressed.
Being a good wife is about allowing the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit to transform you. The culture will not support this and not many will be by your side. But it's worth it.
I was a selfish wife in the beginning. When things got hard, I simply left and separated. I felt like if my desires werent being met, I had a right to leave. I said I wanted to submit but I didnt. I blamed my husband for all our arguments. I hated the idea of serving him.
God changed me when I chose to fully invest in the marriage. Soon after, I stopped working and became a housewife. God transformed me through the mentorship of Godly women and His Word.
There is no lasting fulfillment in seeking your own way all the time in a marriage. But freely giving yourself and of what you have to serve your husband and make his life better in God's name is truly rewarding.

All those gifts and attentions I got from my future husband and previous suitors just opened up a capacity for craving attention from men in general.
If I could do it again, the dating process would be a series of interviews with very serious questions with zero fluff. Then, by the time my capacity for desiring male attention was awakened, it would be within the context of marriage.
It's not only about saving sex for marriage but saving romance for marriage as well.
We treat dating like the cake and marriage like the icing. This ought to be reversed.

It's hard but my husband can correct me without me flying off the handle. Learning to recieve correction well has blessed me.
