Born of the Holy Spirit and relation with the Holy Ghost.

Hello, I'm born of the Spirit, I asked God to give me the Holy Spirit over 12 years ago.

Only in these past 12 months have I considered whether there is a distinction between the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost.

I do believe I have a ghost personally as well as a (sanctified) spirit, and I believe my ghost felt really good in my early stages of being born again (of the Spirit).

Now, I feel God is wanting me to ask for the Holy Ghost as well. Does this make sense and what do you think of it?

Everyone understands God differently, I became Born Of The Spirit over 33 years ago...there is only one birth in the Spirit....when the Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are children of God....in other words as he was indwelling my spirit he testified/ spoke to my spirit.

God gave me to Jesus ....I am being conformed into his image, plus bearing the fruit of the Spirit.....as I grow and mature in Christ...he indwells my spirit, as it was birthed over 33 years ago....Praise God always!

Whoever the Father gives to the Son, none can pluck us out of his hands.
All Glory goes to God and to no other.

I never knew that I had a spirit, not until it became Born Again..brought Alive by Gods Living testimony, the Living Spirit.

Different understandings occur because people are individuals and their experiences are different. God understands everyone of us perfectly. How much or how well does each of us understand of Him? God knows the heart of each of us but how clearly do we know our own hearts... much less the hearts of others?

Who is it that leads us? Is it the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost?

The only difference is the translation. Both Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost are translated from the Greek "pneumatos hagiou".

Did God call you or did you feel the need to go to the alter and accept Christ? I did not see Jesus in your whole post. You cannot decide to become a Christian, it is God who saves you, you can't save yourself. Maybe what you are "feeling" is the need to pray to Jesus for His salvation and saving Grace and forgiveness of sins.

Ephesians 4:4-6 - There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Do you know or have any idea why it's been translated into two different words in English?

In Dutch, the first language I learned, it's been translated into "Geest" the Dutch word for ghost.

Holy Ghost represents an earlier use of English, Holy Spirit is the more modern use. Nowadays "ghost" is thought of as an human apparition of someone who has died, while "spirit" is more of the immaterial part of a man, living or dead, also then of God's Spirit.

That's as I understand it.

I watched dozens of videos on YouTube and in one of them a person quoted Bible verses from 1st Corinthians that rang true to me.

I was elated because I believed in God's existence right away and then was overwhelmed with fear.

I then began to seek the truth about the Bible and Jesus Christ and two weeks later I had asked for the Holy Spirit.

It wasn't at an altar, it was at home.

If hearing and reading those Bible verses were the way that God called me to repentance then yes, it was Him calling.

Thanks, I saw the name of Jesus in this post. That makes me feel better. Still, Ephesians 4:4-6 states there is only one Holy Spirit.

When communicating with other people we need to understand how our Metadata meshes with their Metadata so that there is no confusion conveyed between the people we are talking with and ourselves.

Good communication is judged by how closely my intended words are understood by the hearer of what I say such that they come to the same understanding as myself.

So often people on forums focus on the differences in how something is said rather than on the closeness of what each understands the other is conveying.

There are things we perceive being said along with the words used, because of how each of us think about our communications. We need to make sure we are on the same page with these unspoken perceptions and such to make sure our inner interpretations match the other persons. Is that what you are saying?

We know when we've achieved good communication by the common understanding each of us hold. It's not good communication if the hearer things I'm saying something I'm not. Is that the idea?

So often people on forums focus on the differences in how something is said rather than on the closeness of what each understands the other is conveying.

Too much attention can be spent on the style and form of communication, rather then whether or not our communication is effective, not by the form it takes, but the successful transmission of ideas.

Am I understanding you correctly?
