Romans 6:1-2, grace isn’t an excuse for sin, it’s the reason you have strength to overcome it, it’s an invitation to rise above your old ways and embrace a life marked by gratitude, humility and holiness. Romans 6:4, this new life that Paul speaks of, isn’t just a better version of your old self, it’s a life made brand new by the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Sin isn’t just about your wrong actions, it’s a force, a power that held humanity captive, before Christ, you were enslaved to sin and your natural tendencies led you to live in opposition to God. When Jesus died and rose again, he broke the power of sin once and for all and when you place your faith in him, you join in that victory, you die to your old self and are raise to a new life in Christ.

This new life, is a life of purpose, joy and peace, instead of being driven by selfish desires, you’re now led by the Holy Spirit, called to live in a way that honors God and blesses others. You are fully loved, forgiven and empowered by God’s Holy Spirit, this is the life Paul calls you to, a life no longer ruled by guilt, fear or shame, but by assurance of God’s love and strength within you.
