So in your opinion, what is the best way to break off the addiction.

1. Counseling
2. Exercising
3. Holy Spirit
4. Journaling
5. Therapy

Is addiction different for believers and nonbelievers.

How many believers do you know of that are doing hardcore drugs with the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Thank you for response.

This is something that is unique to each individual....some can only achieve sobriety through group meetings such as AA, others through Counseling/Therapy, others through the prayer of deliverance and the Holy Spirit....I cannot say which is the best way because people have gained freedom from addiction through all of the above.....it is what best works for you.

Addiction is in the flesh so it is the same in both believers and unbelievers

This third part can only apply to born again believers because unbelievers cannot have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

As far as doing hardcore drugs with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit....I can only suggest that drugs distorts our ability to rightly divide the truth....it is a doorway, a portal to deceiving spirits and seducing spirits. So if you think about it when we sin we grieve the Holy Spirit, but He never leaves us.
Romans 8:9 tells us, “…if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.” This verse very clearly states that if someone does not have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, then that person is not saved. Therefore, if the Holy Spirit were to leave a believer, that person would have lost the saving relationship with Christ. Yet this is contrary to what the Bible teaches about the eternal security of Christians. Another verse that speaks to the permanence of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence in the life of believers is John 14:16. Here Jesus states that the Father will give another Helper “to be with you forever.”

The fact that the Holy Spirit will never leave a believer is also seen in Ephesians 1:13-14 where believers are said to be “sealed” with the Holy Spirit, “who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession—to the praise of his glory.” The picture of being sealed with the Spirit is one of ownership and possession. God has promised eternal life to all who believe in Christ, and as a guarantee that He will keep His promise, He has sent the Holy Spirit to indwell the believer until the day of redemption. Similar to making a down payment on a car or a house, God has provided all believers with a down payment on their future relationship with Him by sending the Holy Spirit to indwell them. The fact that all believers are sealed with the Spirit is also seen in 2 Corinthians 1:22 and Ephesians 4:3

None recently, but more than 40 years ago when my wife and I were quite young in the Lord ourselves in California we knew a young man who had been a heroine addict. He testified that when He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost he was freed from his addiction. When we knew him he was already happily married with two young children and holding a steady job to support them. Give God the glory!

The Holy Spirit will empower the Christian to break off any addiction, provided that the individual understands that he or she must die to sin and self and be alive to God.

The Christians *addiction* must be to do the Father's will so it is indeed different for believers.

None.
