By his stripes we are healed just spiritual healing?
If this is spiritual, what makes you believe that?By: Brother Mike
I had just gotten a new radio, and was ready to try it out. I was wanting to listen to some good Christian stations.
I start fiddling with the buttons, and found me one. (A Christian station) I was just in time to hear a sermon from someone, so I kicked back, and got ready to listen.
This man on the radio started his Sermon by telling everyone that He did not want anyone to get upset, but the truth must be preached. He then went right to Isa 53:5
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Notice this is Past tense?)
This man went on to say, that this is not physical healing as some believe in great error, but it is just spiritual healing. He then went and talking about his wife dying after much pray, and others that had horrible outcomes. He also said the Hebrew does not say anything about this being physical.
I sat there just amazed that they let someone on the radio like this, but I guess if you pay for the air time, then I guess it's OK. The man never mentioned what "spiritual" help we get, to him it was just spiritual, or a way to scoot it under the rug. Most people that talk like this have no idea how the realm of the spirit operates. They are ignorant of the fact that the spiritual created everything physical, and spiritual law, and things in the spirit greatly effect this physical world.
I started to examine why this so called teacher of the Word believed in the way he did. Most of his points where things that he experienced, and not the Word of God. We walk by faith, not experiences or sight. He also left out the scripture before this one........ I wonder why?
Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
I come to find out latter that many say this passage of scripture is just some spiritual healing. How it helps us, they can't really answer.
"A well inner feeling that our salvation is healed from death to life, Knowing that our spiritual corruptness is now healed, that we may have peace with God."
That is the best one I have heard, some not so good.................
We do have a problem here though. We have to break some interpenetration laws to get this set of scriptures into the spiritual healing only category. Lets look at another translation.
Isa 53:4 Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains--he hath carried them, And we--we have esteemed him plagued, Smitten of God, and afflicted. YLT
Isa 53:4 Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].(2) AMP
Isa 53:4 But it was our pain he took, and our diseases were put on him: while to us he seemed as one diseased, on whom God's punishment had come. BBE
Now the Hebrew word for grief is chŏlı̂y It was translated sickness and disease. Not just some spiritual sickness, not until we get to Isaiah. Since it did not fit our theology, we just changed the word to mean something else.
That is pretty sloppy bible work, yet people do this, Why?
From everything I have heard, it comes down to what people are willing to believe and go after. Not what Scripture does say. I have one time heard someone say this is just spiritual healing without some sob story about someone they know, that did not get healed.
If this is Physical Healing, then many fall way short of having any faith. If Jesus washed our sin away, AND bore our sickness we should do everything possible to resist sickness and disease just like we should resist sin in our life. If Jesus really did carry our sickness also.
Well, we just can't take one scripture and make a party out of it..........................We need some supporting scriptures, We need to compare spiritual with spiritual, and line upon line, else we are going to miss something here.
Lets wonder over to the book of Deuteronomy. What did God say?
Deu 28:15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
God said if we do not hearken to his word, then curses come upon us. What curses?? The curse for breaking the Law. It is very evident by the start of Deuteronomy 28 doing as God said, brings blessings. Now God is letting us know what happens if we don't do as he says. God says something very startling here.
Deu 28:22 The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
Deu 28:27 The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
Deu 28:61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
WOW!!!!! Itching, swelling, fever, sickness, botch, Plague, were caused by not obeying God!!!
Notice these things were "UNTIL THOUGH BE DESTROYED" "UNTIL THOU PERISH"
What is missing is God mentioning that any of these things were designed to teach us anything or build our character. God uses sickness for his glory.................. Not according to scripture he don't. (Don't bother with John 9, Jesus never said it was for God's Glory, people read that all wrong.)
According to God, Sickness was punishment for not Obeying him. I did not make this up, I am giving you the scripture.
What would that have to do with Jesus though? Because not only did Jesus Wash our sin away in the precious blood, but he also took the punishment that we deserved!!!!!
This is part of the curse of the Law. It was not just spiritual, but started in the spiritual, by breaking the Word of God, and it brought physical consequences. Jesus Work at the cross was more far reaching than just preventing you and I from Going to Hell. The moment we made Jesus Lord, we have a right to believe he also bore are physical sickness.
To say it is the will of God for you to be sick, is to say what caused sickness on the earth must also be his will. You can't have one, without the other.
So, it must be God's will that you do not obey his Word, if you think it may be his will that you are sick.
However, even the word Salvation............. How did the people back in the times of the Apostles of Jesus hear this word. Paul preached this everywhere he went, or the Gospel of Christ. Paul preached Salvation.
Act 14:9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
Act 14:10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
Now what do you think Paul was saying that day? I can tell you what he was not saying. He was not saying that you just never know what God is going to do, Sometimes God uses sickness for the greater good. No, Paul was talking about Salvation, the Gospel of Christ, The reason Jesus came. What did those back then hear when the word Salvation was used???
so-tay-ree'-ah
Feminine of a derivative of G4990 as (properly abstract) noun; rescue or safety (physically or morally): - deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.
No wonder this man had faith to be healed. Notice this man had to believe something to be healed? Many think that if God wants them healed then God will heal them............... That is not scripture folks.........All things are possible to them that BELIEVE!!!! You have to believe. Just like this man in the book of Acts. This man believed what Paul was preaching, and Paul was not preaching that God wants you sick.
Even so............. sickness came from the curse. God said that, remember? I'll take his word on that. I stated that Jesus took our punishment for what we deserved.
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Gal 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
No wonder Jesus had such a big Healing ministry. He was setting forth the example of what it should be, and things to come. He was about to go to the cross and pay the price for everything that disobedience to God's word could cause in someones life.
Still................... If your not convinced yet, that Isa 53:3-4 also covers our physical healing, then we need someone else to interpret this scripture for us. Lets ask the Holy Spirit, our teacher. How did He interpret this scripture??
Mat 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: (notice the word ALL?)
Mat 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
That is physical healing folks, Out from the Holy Spirit Himself. He should know, He was the one that Gave Isaiah the scripture for Isa 53:3-4.
Jesus Is Lord
