so tell me, if parents send their teen who has same sex attraction to a Christian counselor, does that mean the counselor can not tell the teen his desires are sin, and he should chose God's way for sexual relations?

11:02PM EST September 30. 2012 - California Gov. Jerry Brown has signed legislation that prohibits a form of therapy said to help minors transform from gay to straight, the Los Angeles Times reports officials said earlier today.

"Gov. Brown should be commended for protecting LGBT youth by ending this kind of quackery," Lieu told the Times. "Anyone who forces a child to try to change their sexual orientation must understand this is unacceptable."

"In our view, it's an intrusion beyond what the government has done before," Matthew McReynolds, staff attorney for the conservative Pacific Justice Institute, which opposed the bill, told the Times. "The privacy concerns are fairly significant."

I actually think this ban is a good thing.

The teen years can be an extremely confusing time for youth. And it is made more difficult by the sexual bombardment from TV, movies, the Internet, and even video games.

Many teens aren't equipped to 'self-evaluate,' especially while dealing with the sexual saturation society gives them and the pressure of their peers as to what is right and what is wrong.

Combine that with overbearing parents and "therapies" that are not necessarily effective (meaning they could cause more confusion and frustration than they address) and it suggests that it is best to wait until that person reaches their adulthood before this is considered.

Once they reach an age where they are more mature and self-aware, they can then make the decision as to what - if anything - they wish to do.
