You shouldn't be using Socialism as a Christian arguement against Obama. There are parts of the bible that share a similar theme to that of socialism.Acts 4:34-5:11. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles' feet: and the distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. All that believed were together, and had all things in common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.(Acts 2:44-45)There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. They laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. There was a Levite, a native of Cyprus, Joseph, to whom the apostles gave the name Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”). He sold a field that belonged to him, then brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.(Acts 4:34-37)The bible was not made in the U.S. and isn't all capitalism. I have had many Christian friends who have had the same thoughts that socialism is an evil systems that turns people into God-hating athiests. Not true, the bible contains many passages that show similarities to socialism. In fact I think God wants us to be socialistic in some ways. IE: Giving away alot of your earnings to the poor and others who need it.Conclusion: The bible contains ideals that are both related to capitalism and socialism.

Byron, Why don't you sell everything you have, including your computer, and give it to the poor! Put you money where your mouth is.

Byron you are wrong here our country was founded on Biblical principals not Karl Marx theology you have a verse here or there you take out of context and declare its God way. If you are going to that then why do you not believe in slavery its in the Bible also. No where does God teach that the Rewards he chooses to give someone should be taken and redistributed by the government to whom they chose. In fact this makes the poor more dependent on men than themselves and God. God teaches if one wants to give to the poor its a matter of ones choice and it will be rewarded by God. Socialism takes this choice away from the individual and gives it to the government thus denying one the personal choice of doing good works.

You're absolutely right.Christianity is not a social system, or an economic system. It is a right relationship with God - a faith that transcends all nationalities and "isms".That said, Christians certainly are entitled to hold very strong views on political issues. I am, for example, very much opposed to the "mandatory redistribution of wealth." Why? Because that's communism (extreme socialism) and it doesn't "bring up the bottom", but merely destroys the top. Could I, as a Christian, live in either a communist or socialist country? Yes - but I'd certainly prefer not to!The examples could go on and on. There are a number of issues on which I believe that Obama is the worse of the two major Presidential candidates. And, given that, it brings me to an easy decision when it comes to the absolute of abortion. No pro-abortion, no pro-Obama.Others are free to disagree, and vote differently. But that's where I'm at.

Byron:There are places in the Bible were I think honest people can reach different conclusions. But, as usual, your statements go beyond what where I think an honest person can differ. You want to make us all slaves to an immoral government. To top it off, you attempt to use the the Bible to support that evil cause. In Acts, people voluntarily gave to help the ministry and to help the needy. The needy are defined elsewhere in the Bible, such as where Paul explains to Timothy that a Widow who is really in need is an older widow who does not live for pleasure and who does not have family to support her. In Acts, none of the money is taken by force (like taxes). None of the donated money is going to be used for anything wicked, like paying for abortion, imprisoning Christians for "hate crime", your and Obama's sex-ed goal of teaching five-year-olds to bend over for homosexual predators, or to pay able-bodied people welfare to stay home and consume drugs and produce babies to be raised by the state.

"mandatory redistribution" of wealth is Socialism or Marxist socialismDictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) - Cite This Source - Share This so⋅cial⋅ism   /ˈsoʊʃəˌlɪzəm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [soh-shuh-liz-uhm] Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. 2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory. 3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles. American Heritage New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition - socialism An economic system in which the production and distribution of goods are controlled substantially by the government rather than by private enterprise, and in which cooperation rather than competition guides economic activity. There are many varieties of socialism. Some socialists tolerate capitalism, as long as the government maintains the dominant influence over the economy; others insist on an abolition of private enterprise. All communists are socialists, but not all socialists are communists.

That's a big thing I missed in my previous reply. In Acts, the saints shared their possessions. Liberal Democrat Socialism, aside from forcefully taking (stealing) people's money to spend on wicked things, is also an economic system. The story Acts has absolutely nothing to do with the church taking over or controlling people's businesses.

While conservatives steal money and give them to the rich. So trying to help lower health care costs is an evil thing? Get your priorities straight. No I actually take that back. You are right. God wants a bunch of wealthy class people in power to support and piggishly give all the money to their rich friends that they acquire from the paychecks of the middle-class.But no God does not approve of a man who helps middle-class workers keep food on the table because he supports free choice. You are right. The liberals are a bunch of God hating mongols, while the perfect, God fearing conservatives, do the best they can to serve God by hogging up all the money.

Conservatives don't steal money. You're mixing up the Mccain/Bush pseudo-conservatives with real conservatives.
So trying to help lower health care costs is an evil thing? Get your priorities straight.
Neither McCain or Obama have floated any ideas to lower health care costs. But, they're both working hard to raise costs to taxpayers. McCain wants the government to buy everyone's medical insurance.
God wants a bunch of wealthy class people in power to support and piggishly give all the money to their rich friends that they acquire from the paychecks of the middle-class.
Who do you think, other than the working class, is going to pay for Obama's socialist programs?
You are right. The liberals are a bunch of God hating mongols, while the perfect, God fearing conservatives, do the best they can to serve God by hogging up all the money.
Again, you confuse pseudo-conservatives with conservatives. But, it's true that conservatives don't believe in stealing from others, including others who are rich. When liberals talk about wealth redistribution, they don't mean they're going to redistribute the wealth of the rich.
