And I'm not talking about the kind of witchcraft in Harry Potter either. I bring this up because somebody was just telling me on another website that she's a Christian that practices witchcraft and that's the exactly same thing as saying there's a dog that meows. It just isn't possible in my book.

Whoa! If she practices witchcraft then she is no Christian. She can't serve two masters. I wonder where she got the idea that she could.

Beats me, but I was thinking exactly the same thing. As much as I like Harry Potter I understand that it's pretend and not real as that kind of magic doesn't exist. I would NEVER actually practice witchcraft. She's a Potterhead too though so maybe she just doesn't understand it like I do.

I read a book ages ago called, 'From Witchcraft to Christ' by Doreen Irvine. She wanted to be a Christian but the devil still wanted her and her journey out of the dark was horrific. i wonder if the lady you mentioned knows that the devil has her captive.

Not sure, I'm sort of too afraid to mention anything about it at the moment.

Perhaps you could just quote scripture. What about this one, it includes witchcraft among a load of other nasty stuff:

Galatians 5:19-21
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I think a better title for this thread would be “Christianity and Witchcraft Don’t Mix.”

Sadly, witches don’t understand that they are using the powers of Satan in order to accomplish their will, generally through casting spells, etc. Conversely, Christians pray so that God’s will is done as Jesus taught us to pray in the Lord’s Prayer. And as we pray that God’s will be done, HIS power accomplishes His will.

I believe that a Christian can be deceived for a time and fall into the sin of witchcraft or other occult practices. But using the powers of Satan destroys a Christian’s walk and witness. IOW, no one can really be a good Christian and a “good” witch. They cannot represent both kingdoms—the kingdom of God and that of Satan—at the same time. No one can serve two masters.

First of all I took your advice and changed the title as I agreed with you and that is her argument, she says she doesn't believe that she's worshipping Satan when she does this and these are two entirely different things, except for one major problem,.. the Bible forbids it!!

I’m not saying that witches worship Satan (not directly), but the power they conjure is Satan’s power. They certainly don’t utilize the power of God! Witches will tell you that they don’t worship Satan, but their god is not the one true God of the Bible. So...they worship and serve other gods, which Paul said are demons.

1 Cor 20:19-21…19Am I suggesting, then, that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot partake in the table of the Lord and the table of demons too.…

You need to stand up and be counted here April-Rose.
Joshua 1:9
Yes, be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

I know, it's just rather difficult for me because I don't want to try and control how other people live their lives. Especially if I don't know them. That, and I'm just too nice to say something if I disagree with it.

I would just add--pray, pray, pray!!! Whenever I do warfare against the powers of darkness, even in witnessing, I get attacked--BIG time!

I posted a question on another thread about whether Christians are too polite to point out the 'weeds'. Well I might be if it was face to face with somebody I know but I would with a stranger online. Maybe she doesn't know those scriptures. Perhaps she is a churchgoer rather than a born again believer. Ask God to guide you and give you the nerve to do it.

It's not a matter of trying to control others. That would be a form of witchcraft. But if the Holy Spirit leads you to witness to this woman, He will show you what to say. You can always pray for her. :)

Thanks guys and I definitely will pray for her and actually it's a lot easier for me to talk to a friend or family member about things I don't approve of than a complete stranger believe it or not and probably it's because since I know them I feel more comfortable speaking my mind.

You're unique! I think it's the opposite for most people. :)

Yeah, even in real life it's like that as I am completely out of my comfort zone when I don't know somebody. After all, do you know how long it took before I finally trusted Hiccup? :p (How to Train Your Dragon joke because of my new avatar and status. :D)

My kids like that movie. At least, the first one. Not sure if they saw more than the first.

The first two are good and the third one is crap,.. but anyways back to the subject at hand. :)

Remember April, they think they are weilding power, but you have the blood of Jesus to weild + scripture. And the blood is greater than anything the enemy has.
I have been using the blood of Christ for years in warfare. You have the authority to use it too.
