Following on from Josho's thread on Christianity in the Vatican - has anyone been to the Holy Land?
My wife and I went with a pilgrimage group a few years ago.
We started by the sea of Gallilee - including a boat trip on the sea itself.
I can't remember the exact order but we went to the Dead Sea, Bethlehem, Ein Karem where John the Baptist was born, the Pool at Siloah, an Essene site in the desert, and of course Jerusalem - Mount of Olives, Wailing Wall, Upper Room etc.
Amazing experience.
Very sad though in Bethehem because it's in one of the Palestinian areas and is surrounded by a high wall. At the road entrance is an Israeli guard with a machine gun pointing inward.
