You’re confusing ACTUAL with POTENTIAL.

The whole point and reason for the justice system to to remove criminals from society because they are likely to damage more people. That concept applies here with this perverted kid.

I‘m dealing with at least 11 ACTUAL victims now.
  1. The 4 victims to my left. The 4 yo at the time and his family.
  2. The 4 victims to my left - including the pedophile, most of all.
  3. My wife and I.
  4. My grandson.

You'd think that would be enough to cause you to spring in to action and report this kid to the authorities.

What grandfather puts the pervert before his own grandson??? clueless.gif

Lack of conscience? Something must be seriously wrong with you

I'm not the one providing cover for a pervert so I'm not the one that has something wrong with them.

I don’t seek retribution. Isn’t that love?

As long as you are good with this kid abusing others, then I suppose it's no problem for you. It will be for others, but as long as things are good for you then that's all that matters, right?

Maybe we should treat all criminals this way and let them go with no consequences for their actions and we'll just "pray" that they will someday stop doing criminal activity and stop hurting people.

We get our criminal justice system from the Word of God and it's about protecting the innocent from the actions of the guilty and it's NOT about protecting the guilty from consequences for their actions. You have to notice that very very few criminals get born again and stop doing crime.

Most must be forcibly restrained in prison in order to protect the general public which is more important to the Lord that it is to allow criminals to remain free to they can keep hurting others. That's the concept you failed to understand.

That’s what bothers me. Christ did not compel us to forgive ONLY AFTER political justice is done.

Be careful of the monster you hunt that you don’t become the monster!

Well I'm certainly not going to protect the monster so he can continue damaging the lives of innocent people.

You kinda remind me of those mafia movies where the mob boss loves his family and moves to protect his family but has no problem when the families of others are damaged, as the mob boss doesn't give a fat rats backside about anybody else's family.

If this kid becomes a rapist, a murderer, or damages others then that is on you!

You know the right thing to do was to have reported him to the authorities

But hey, you do you!

You’re missing a VERY important point; the criminal justice system is a last resort, not a first resort.

I didn’t do that. Putting my grandson first and confronting the parents iis te cause of me no longer having a relationship with 4 neighbors I love.

Even the justice system does not kill pedophiles. Even if all yours dreams came true of what the justice system would do to punish him, he could still abuse others. Killing him is ye only way to be sure. But tha5 is not justice either.

And by not reporting him to authorities you are providing cover for a pervert.

Doing the right thing in this would be to report him to authorities so the general public would know he's a bad actor and have opportunity to keep their kids away from him.

Yeah, refusing to talk to them really teaches the pervert a lesson.

You’re wrong. There is no evidence against him. Don’t embrace GUILT BY ACCUSATION. Suspicion. Evidence. Not the same thing. See slander and False Witness.

There is no evidence against him.

That's funny, you said earlier that your grandson told his mom this guy was playing with him self in front of your grandson.

Your grandson's testimony IS the evidence.

Now you are saying your grandson was lying about all this?

Again, you’re wrong. An accusation is not evidence. Made 7+ years after the supposed event is weak AND after the statute of limitation has expired. Also, what is the testimony of my grandson? You don’t even know what that is!
That this neighbor of mine touched his cheek (while holding his own penis as they both peed in the restroom at the beach). On the merits, I doubt it constitutes the legal criteria of child molestation. My grandson may be lying about this, seeking attention immediately after his girlfriend broke up with her, supposedly threatening to kill himself. The timing is suspicious on a very weak accusation.

Finally, once his supposed repressed memory surfaced, he told his mother he didn’t want to talk more about it. @Big Boy Johnson, you are over the top and pushing for something you don’t know what you are talking about, making false accusations against me. You are not going to change my mind and you should respect a decision made years ago. If not, have a nice life!

(I wonder how many people regret telling you personal things when they don’t handle things the way you prefer due to your self-righteousness? This thread is about Christ’s most difficult command. Time to move on.)

An accusation is not evidence.

My mistake. I was unaware that your grandson lied about this and none if it ever happened.

People are put in to prison based on eye witness testimony so if someone is telling the truth then that IS evidence.

Sounds like your grandson needs to be taught not to lie and make stuff up.

Also, what is the testimony of my grandson? You don’t even know what that is!

I was going by what you said.

You said your grandson told his mom that this happened

@Big Boy Johnson, you are over the top and pushing for something you don’t know what you are talking about

That was due to thinking you were tell us of actual events.

I didn't know this was all fake.

Yeah, egg on my face for believing what you were saying about all this.

I wonder how many people regret telling you personal things when they don’t handle things the way you prefer due to your self-righteousness?

Me having a problem with someone protecting a pervert is not me being self righteous.

Had this been an actual real story you would be in the wrong for not reporting a pervert to the authorities so the horse you are riding is not as high as you suppose.

Time to move on.

Yes, now that we know this was all a fake story it is time to move on.

Going forward when you speak about your experiences I'll make sure to get out a big old grain of salt

You are a VERY ignorant man with no understanding of the law. 1st, there has to be evidence of a crime. No evidence of a crime = No criminal prosecution. That is, "there is no there, there."

2nd, there has to be evidence that a certain person committed that crime. Otherwise, you are just dealing with accusations, aka slander.

My mistake.
Yup. I see the words but do not feel the sincerity.

Yes, now that we know this was all a fake story it is time to move on.

IMO, the 4yo telling his mother that night is compelling. As I told the mother of the pedophile, the mother of the 4yo is a credible witness. They chose not to press charges. YOU need to respect that and not pretend you are the hero sticking up for POTENTIAL victims when you don't know what you are talking about.

It's not you taking what I say with a grain of salt; it's YOU putting your fleshy ego aside and recognize people have the right to make decisions you don't agree with and not tolerate your rants and name calling. God told me to let it go. Who are you to tell me I'm wrong?

I said IF a witness is telling the truth, their testimony is the evidence that will bring a conviction and put the person is jail.

You are the one ignorant of how the law works when it comes to witnesses being truthful.

Apparently in the case with your grandson he was not being truthful so his testimony cannot be used as evidence which is why there is no there there.

Yup. I see the words but do not feel the sincerity.

You are the one telling fake stories so your feelings are of no concern of mine.

You should tell the truth from now on and quit being like the boy that cried wolf.

Wow, so now you are changing your story claiming your grandson was telling the truth after all.

Dude, you really need to make up your mind.

No, I don't need to do anything.

You need to man up and stand up for your grandson and do the right thing.

Unless of course you change your story yet again and claim none of this actually happened.

In a case of a child claiming sexual abuse, anybody that knows about this can alert the authorities and they will take up the case and investigate regardless of whether the parents elect to press charges or not.

Sexual abuse now days is being treated like murder as many states have passed laws removing the statute of limitation on sexual abuse just like there are no statute of limitation on murder.

It's not you taking what I say with a grain of salt; it's YOU putting your fleshy ego aside

Doing the right thing escapes you.

God told me to let it go. Who are you to tell me I'm wrong?

All depends on who you are calling "god" and it depends on whether your grandson is telling the truth or not.

Another error of yours is putting all this out on a public forum which is inviting others to comment.

If you really believe you had the Lord's leading on what to do about this, you would not be putting this out publicly inviting others to comment about how they see this.

You might want to refrain from doing this sort of thing in the future since you want to get all upset when someone does not agree with your assessment

No! Once again, you are wrong and don't know what you are talking about.

In these exchanges, I never said the 4 yo was my grandson. (Although I never mentioned it, my grandson may have been 7 at the time of the alleged incident).

This post shows you are not taking any accountability but trying to keep attacking me. Have a nice life!

I see so this is all one big fake story.

I have good neighbors. Used to hang out by the bonfire all the time. To my right, the young boy accused the boy on my left of child molestation. A couple of years later my grandson stopped suppressing a memory from 5 years prior and told a similar story.

Was going to respond to a post in another thread. Realized it deserves it own thread.

I like your post and need to share with you a study note from today's devotional reading. From Matthew 19:24, cross-referencing Study Note to Luke 18:25 of the NSRV Cultural Study Bible:
Against some popular but mistaken notions that the "needle's eye" was the name of a gate in first-century Jerusalem, a needle's eye back then meant what it means today - a very tiny opening. It provided a graphic contrast for a camel. In Babylonia, where the largest animal was an elephant, Jewish teachers could speak of what was nearly impossible as "an elephant passing through the eye of a needle." In Judea and Galilee, the largest animal was a camel; getting it through a needle's eye provided an apt metaphor for what was virtually impossible.
I firmly believe it is priests who are most guilty of perpetuating this mistaken notion of what the "eye of the needle" means so stock piling money will be more palatable to those of us with itching ears. I like how the note talks about this being "nearly" and "virtually" impossible AS IF it is remotely possible under normal laws of physics. IMO, the importance we place on stock piling money is an IDOL that profoundly goes against Scripture. See also Luke 12:33 (CEV)
Sell what you have and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves moneybags that never wear out. Make sure your treasure is safe in heaven, where thieves cannot steal it and moths cannot destroy it.

This unqualified command is the line of fully embracing Christianity; a line that I have not crossed. Without a doubt, the most difficult command Christ gave. You?
God has changed the way my husband and I view money. We have been called to give in our means and beyond our means at times. The money is God's. He will take care of us no matter what. He is our security.
