I believe the United States was providentially raised and established by God. But not for the benefit of the state, but for the sake of the church to give the church room to breathe and expand without the constrictive policies of the centuries old union of church and state in Europe. A Christianity without a pope, and a state without a king were not the only cries of freedom...a nation without a union of Pope and king, which is and always was an adulterous relationship, is in danger of being repeated between president and pastor. Such a marriage is as equally unfaithful as the former, but insidiously more dangerous to the church. The freedom sought from liberal/socialist politics through right wing conservative Protestant politics is no less tyrannical than that which darkened Europe during the middle ages.
