Galatians 2:20

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

We have tried to cover our union with Christ in detail. There is no greater place to find that understanding being related to the believer by the Apostle Paul than in Galatians 2:20. Paul's detailed union life is a keystone scripture for understanding what happened to you at the cross.

We are getting ready to celebrate the death of Jesus on the cross, we referr to it as Easter. Christmas and Easter are my favorite holidays, Christmas for the joy of the virgin birth and the saviour of the world. Easter is a sad occasion to me, in the suffering and the abuse Jesus goes through. Glorious in the fact of redemption, but the price that was paid is beyond comprehension.

My point in bringing up the holidays is to try to show the believer when Christ was hanging on the cross it was them. In the since that all in Adam were in Christ on the cross. We did not feel the lashes of the cat of nine tails, we did not feel the nails being driven and the crown of torns into the body of Jesus, but we were in Him. Paul was determined to know nothing but Christ crucified. How do you make a statement like that, You have to see something. Paul saw something, he saw the death of Christ was the death of Adam, the old man, Romans 6:6

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

At this point if a believer has not learned to divide soul and spirit as taught in scripture they cannot move on until they do learn.

In Romans 7 Paul is showing you the death of the sin nature. There was no freedom from the sin nature, the law did not do away with the sin nature, it could only controll it. We follow along in the old testament and wonder how those that loved God with all their heart could fail so terrible. It's simple, they had a sin nature and the law was contrary to the sin nature. The law wasn't bad, it wasn't evil, but to try to keep the law with a sin nature could only be done through obedience to the law.

But now the cross has taken the sin nature and crucified it along with, past sins, present sins. Someone always needs to know how to handle that kind of freedom. First you need to know, you need the understanding of what we are talking about. If you say "does that mean I can live anyway I want, get away with any sin and still be a Christian." For starters you have no idea what we are talking about, and you really don't want your Father getting a hold of you because He knows how to handle a rebellious child.

If He birthed you He will correct you. Union life is a shared life of two becoming one in thought and action.
