Different sins & offerings?

I'm reading Leviticus Chapters 5-7 - What is the difference between a sin, committing a trespass, and then a sin offering, trespass offering and a peace offering?

I'm reading Leviticus Chapters 5-7 - What is the difference between a sin, committing a trespass, and then a sin offering, trespass offering and a peace offering?

I guess it depends on the context.

In chapter 5, a sin is breaking a command and knowing it, A trespass is breaking a command and not understanding what he did (He did not know it was a sin)

In other areas, I think they can mean the same thing, If I break a command of God, whether I know it or I do it in ignorance. It is nto only a sin (I have missed the mark) but is a trespass against God.

In all cases. the sin offering are to make atonement fore the sin committed, whether in ignorance or on purpose.

I once looked up all the many different 'offerings' written about in the bible but still don't understand them.

It can be very confusing.. It may be one of those questions we ask God when we get there..
