Cause for me I don't think I do. If I say something that I'm not sure if I should have, or joke about something that I shouldn't have I start obsessing over it and wondering whether or not I sinned and if God is disappointed in me for it because I want to make sure I repent for it if I did something wrong. Otherwise, I start doubting my salvation. :(

"DO YOU ALWAYS KNOW WHEN YOU SIN?"
OP^

What I "Always Know"...
IS my SIN is Forgiven and I can sin no more.

Praise and Glory to God,

Nope. But if God is at that point where He is dealing with a particular sin in your life- He will let you know. He is in charge of your spiritual life and will let you know. So relax, be vigilant be joyful and know when God wants to deal with a sin you don't know is sin- He will inform you!

That is not what the Bible teaches (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (kjv), Hebrews 10:14 (kjv), 1 John 3:9; 1 John 3:7, 1 John 3:3, 1 John 2:6; Jude 1:24, 2 Peter 1:10, 1 John 2:10; 1 John 3:6, 1 John 2:17; Romans 6:6 (kjv), Colossians 2:11 (kjv), (NLT)).

However, the Lord has grace for those who have not yet been perfected (1 John 2:1).

1 John 1.8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Like any word in the Bible, the word's application is determined by its context. Otherwise, you're into an interpretive fallacy, that a word anywhere in the Bible means the same things.

Just like in English, the dictionary may produce 2 or 3 different applications for the same word. It is context that determines which application is being used by the author.

The word "perfect" is a good example. At times it may mean "sinless." At other times it means "mature," or "complete." You are mixing up these definitions, and arriving at an apparent biblical contradiction. I defer to 1 John 1.8-10.

There is no contradiction.

We all have indwelling sin (1 John 1:8); but this does not mean that we have to commit sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 3:6, 1 John 2:17).

For the element of sin can be rendered dead within us (Romans 6:6, Galatians 5:24, Romans 7:8) so that it no longer has any say or authority over our behaviour or what we do (Romans 6:14).

In this, the element of sin is not eradicated from our lives (so 1 John 1:8 is preserved); but it is also true that the one who is born of God "doth not" commit sin and also "cannot" sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 3:6, 1 John 2:17).

IDK. I know which sins bother me. I'm not so sure I know which ones God hates the most. I feel like they might be the ones I don't even notice.

Can a person really confess every sin? I don't think so. Jesus died for all of them fortunately ..because he knew I would fail to recognize them all as sin.

The light will eventually bring every sin to the light; if not in this world then on your day of judgment.

If you are in the habit of confessing your sins in this life, you will continue to behave according to that habit while being judged.

It is written,

Mat 5:25, Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Forgive me if someone has already provided these verses. But . . . yes, there is unintentional sinning that we all have likely been guilty of. I can't imagine anything otherwise.

Leviticus 5:18 NLT - 18 For a guilt offering, you must bring to the priest your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value. Through this process the priest will purify you from your unintentional sin, making you right with the LORD, and you will be forgiven.
Numbers 15:25, 27 NLT - 25 With it the priest will purify the whole community of Israel, making them right with the LORD, and they will be forgiven. For it was an unintentional sin, and they have corrected it with their offerings to the LORD--the special gift and the sin offering. ... 27 "If one individual commits an unintentional sin, the guilty person must bring a one-year-old female goat for a sin offering.

So then what do we do about it?

So then what do we do about it?

That's the ultimate question. Fortunately, the Bible is incredibly clear with the answer, though virtually no one teaches it . . . especially our "pastors."

The answer is that we must turn to Christ for the removal of the Curse of Adam and Eve. This Spiritual process is technically referred to as "Circumcision of Heart." Between the KJV and NLT translations, it is best and easiest understood.

Colossians 2:11-15 NLT - "When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Colossians 2:11-15 KJV - "In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

Very few Christians realize that the Primary Purpose of Jesus is to relieve us of the Curse of Adam and Eve. Without this Purification, nothing else matters. We can hold every piece of Biblical knowledge that this is, but if we remain under that Curse, none of it matters. Asking Jesus to Circumcise your heart is the single most important event that could ever take place in your life . . . without it, there is no Eternal Life. As said, nothing else is more important than to be alleviated of this Curse, for nothing Cursed may enter the presence of our Holy and Mighty God.

Philippians 3:7-11 NKJV - "But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead."

Phil 3:7-11 above is accomplished by Christ and His Holy Work as discussed in Col 2:11-15, also above.

We must lift our uncircumcised Hearts to Christ for His Holy Operation of Faith! :)

nope and all of us are like this how do i know? i just know
Actually, you're wrong.

The Holy Spirit's job is to convict of sin...it is His job to pinpoint sin when we commit it.

If we have Him, then the light is constantly shining down on us and will expose the bugs and cobwebs in our lives so that Jesus can wash them away with His precious blood.

IMHO I have focused on the statement "What Would Jesus DO"? This has been a guideline for myself and how I would treat others. I am a sinner and each day I ask the Lord for forgiveness and do my best to follow His will

To me, sin is the state of the soul. To do a sin, to me, is an outward manifestation of what is inside the heart.
"To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure." Titus 1:15
This verse, I believe, should not bring condemnation or even denial, but is showing the condition of the heart of the spiritually born-again believer.
This should show why one should take Luke 9:23 serious enough to do what Jesus wants us to.

I think it's important to remember that not every inappropriate thought, act, or behaviour is an actual sin. To me, it's only sin if it is a transgression against God or against someone else. If it's something we regret later as something we shouldn't have done but doesn't necessarily fall into those categories, it's not sin.

I don't think that I am perfect...although I accept the biblical understanding that we can be perfected in Christ.

It is true that for the most part, I know that I am sinning when I sin. If not, He will convict me later that what I did in the immediate past was a sin.

I think it's important to remember that not every inappropriate thought, act, or behaviour is an actual sin. To me, it's only sin if it is a transgression against God or against someone else. I disagree with you there. If it is something that you know that you shouldn't have done, then it was sin; regardless of whether it hurt anyone else or not. It may have been something that did spiritual damage to you and you are unaware of it.
