If not, why not?
John 16:12-14 KJV
12) I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14) He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

I think this passage has a lot to do with it.

Much love!

Are we supposed to? I pray to the Father thru Jesus.
I don't pray to the Holy Spirit because I could find nowhere in the Bible that He is to be prayed to.
This post is not meant to sound snotty. I'm serious in saying it. If there were a verse that said one should do so, I would.

Can You Talk to the Holy Spirit? If so, How do I do it?

Talk to the Holy Spirit To walk in the Spirit you must start talking to the Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants to have fellowship with you (2 Corinthians 13:14). God gives us love, Jesus gives us grace, and the Spirit gives us communion. Most of us think that the Spirit’s gift is tongues or maybe power. But His primary gift is a relationship. He wants to have an ongoing relationship with you. You are fully qualified for that relationship, in the same way, you are qualified for the love of God and grace of Jesus. He desires intimacy with all of us, not just with certain special people.

His gift is not just conviction but communion. When believers think of the Holy Spirit, their minds quickly move to the fact that the Holy Spirit’s role is to convict us of sin. But when you read in the context of the Holy Spirit’s conviction, you will see that He comes to convict the world of sin and to convict us of righteousness (John 16:8). His role is to convict the world of sin so that they may believe in God to bring them to Christ. He does convict us of sin as well, but He also wants to convict us of the righteousness that we have through Jesus Christ. When was the last time you have been convicted by the Holy Spirit that you are righteous? Do you know that’s also His role? Conviction is what he does, but His gift to us is communion according to 2 Corinthians 13:14.

You can’t have a friendship with someone you keep calling “it”. Many people don’t have fellowship with the Holy Spirit because they view the Holy Spirit as a force instead of a friend. They see him as a power, not as a person. Jesus never referred to the Holy Spirit as “it” but always as “He”. The Holy Spirit is a person. He is not a dove, wind, fire, cloud, force, or power. He is not even a feeling. He is not power. He is a real person.

Talk to the Holy Spirit today!

This , truthfully is something new to me. And I do not even know why but one day, knowing the Holy Spirit lives within me, I just questioned if He should be talked to or prayed to and if so silently, as through thought or by spoken word.

Every single time I think of communicating with Him and even now writing this I am filled to over flowing with happiness and gratitude.

There are many articles on the communications with Him. Enjoy a new area for your life if it is new.

Cassandra, go read my reply... I gave a couple of links.

I do not think it is prayer so much as just talking to Him. He is alive and in you. What a fantastic feeling when you realize it.

I will see what other srticles I have on the subject to post

5 Steps to Deeper Relationship with the Holy Spirit

Jesus is the Lamb of God (John 1:29) and the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit (John 1:25-34). One of the assignments of Jesus is to introduce us to the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives eternal life and abundant life (John 10:10). Eternal life does not exist outside of salvation but abundant life does not exist outside of the Spirit.
We are “sealed” by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). This speaks of a relationship. We are encouraged “not to grieve” the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) which speaks of intimacy. Intimacy flows from relationship. Our salvation gives us the relationship but our pursuit of the Holy Spirit brings about intimacy.
  1. You can’t have fellowship with Someone you keep referring as “It.”
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.” 2 Corinthians 13:14
The grace of Jesus changed our lives. The love of God is the foundation for everything, and the communion of the Holy Spirit is what will change everything! Many know about grace and love but very few practice communion with the Spirit.
He waits to be wanted, longs to be welcomed. He needs to be hosted. Many people invite the Holy Spirit, but few know how to host Him. To start fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit we must first see Him as a person. If you want to walk in the Holy Spirit, start with talking to the Holy Spirit. Throughout the day address Him, welcome Him, thank Him and worship Him. You should not feel guilty for not spending time with the Holy Spirit but you should feel thirsty. He wants relationship, not rules.
Read: Who is the Holy Spirit?
When you fellowship with the Holy Spirit, start with the awareness that He is with you, then turn attention to Him and then lift your hearts with affection towards Him.

I don't need to start with an awareness, for the Lord said He would send a Comforter. I don't know why i would turn my attention toward Him. I am to speak to the Lord. That is what the Bible says, and that is what I'm going by.

Do you realize that the Bible refers to the Holy Spirit as "it" many many times?

Why Did Jesus Call the Holy Spirit “He”?

Following are 32 translation all having Jesus calling the Holy Spirit he.
I will defer to Jesus over any translator.

For, Jesus said, “Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you” (John 16:7).

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

Jesus told the disciples they wouldn't be asking Jesus in prayer, but they would ask the Father Himself. Why would Jesus then tell us to address the Holy Spirit? I cannot think of a single place in the Bible where we are told to address the Holy Spirit. I can't think of anyplace in the Bible where we are informed of someone's prayer to the Holy Spirit. I'm not saying there isn't a place, only, I cannot think of any.

Is there?

Much love!

Yeah but in the Bible the Holy Spirit was pretty new to the earth still. He's much busier nowadays! I'm not sure I understand the confusion about it. Father Son Holy Spirit. It's the same God with the same heart so how could it be possible to be wrong in praying to Holy Spirit?

Most of the time I pray to the Father through Jesus and sometimes the Holy Spirit, and sometimes to Jesus Himself. Am I wrong? I don't think so. The Holy Spirit is to lead us into all truth, right? So sometimes I ask the Holy Spirit to pick a video for me to watch that He wants me to see. (I watch a lot of Youtube videos with teachers and preachers. Some are lies, some are truth. The Lord is all over youtube, He uses youtube a lot.) So since Holy Spirit is to lead me into all truth, I ask Him to pick the video at times. He does too.

Father God has a lot of Jehovah names, right? Like Jehovah Rapha (the Lord our Healer), Jehovah Jireh (The Lord who provides), and so forth. The Lord has many names and I think this is because God wants us to approach Him in different ways. This lets us make the Lord more of a personal God to us. So you don't approach Him as "the Judge" when you should be approaching Him as Abba, correct?!

Need a healing? Approach Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals. But if I want to ask which video I should watch, I ask the Holy Spirit because it is His job to lead us into all truth. I can see no fault in that.

Do you talk to the Holy Spirit?

If not, why not?
I have heard some believers talk about this in the past.
I have never practiced it myself.

I'm on speaking terms with God. For some reason it seems to be God the Father.
But other than a written prophecy, I have no other reason to believe that.
Except for verses about adoption and God being a father to the fatherless that seem to stand out.

When I talk to someone that God tells me to talk to, I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking through me.
Or at least inspiring my words and insights in the situation. And when I pray in tongues,
or sing in the Spirit, which is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

I haven't read any of your posted articles yet.
Do you have a personal testimony of what talking to the Holy Spirit is like?
Is there a benefit for you?

Matthew 10:19-20 NIV
But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it.
At that time you will be given what to say,
20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Romans 8:26-27 NIV
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for,
but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit,
because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

It is too new to me, but I just talk. Some might say ramble. He is living in me, and He communicates to me.

It came to me... out of the blue.... that I wonder if we should.

But since I have been looking into this it truy fills my heart fuller.

I have always thanked Him and said Goodnight to Him.... Now I say good morning, and I will tell Him I will try not to grieve Him.... and apologize if I have.

Eph 4:30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

He is God, as is Jesus, and the Father.... (saying no more and no discussion on this)

We talk/pray to God.

We talk/Pray to and trough Jesus.

Why would we at least not acknowledge the Holy Spirit who is a he..... as Jesus referred to Him .... and is a person, albeit a spiritual one...why would we at least not say Goodmorning and Goodnight?

Yes, A Born Again has direct contact with God via his Spirit....when we have been reconciled back to him, when we are Born Of The Spirit.

We have a Living relationship with God,..because our spirit has been Born Again.

I start my day asking God to lead me into his will...it’s truly wonderful...

You also know when you are walking in his will.
