I think it was around the 1600's onward (UK) there was a law that allowed a husband to beat his wife, should she need it? As I understand it one was allowed to have a stick as thick as their thumb to straighten out the little missus.

Now by the grace of "god" woman are allowed to run amuck like children and we have to thank or spank, I mean thank our feminist's both "christian" and non for this.

Yes this is a feminist article. It isn't difficult to discern political hackery. When one or just a few isolated examples of something is exaggerated to appear to be a prevailing trend, you know you're dealing with a hack. This is and often used strategy to cast one's political or ideological opponents as something they're not. This is not dissimilar to a CNN reporter going through a Tea Party rally in a desperate mission to find just one racist by which to type-cast the entire movement. It's shameless and Christians, who are called to Truth, should instinctively reject it.
Spot On! :)

I might add that Fox news is where worn out Republicans go to retire.
And people that believe the Rep party is the party of God are just as completely confused as the extreme left.
I forgot to add, but I have already mentioned it in my other post.

I listen, and have for years, to many different radio ministries, this man dominance and women submissive role is deeply rooted in many many church leaders teachings, even in christian counseling.

Indeed! I can't remember the location, but a similar rule applies. Once a month on a certain day the good wives line up within their town houses for a ritual beating by their husbands should they have misbehaved in the former days.

I mean that's crazy, hasn't God given us divorce should she not find favor in our eyes. :D

The dominance and submission thing is indeed very alive and very well. The article is not feminist. Why are Christians so eager to cover up the dirty laundry?

It's like Catholics hiding all the sexual abuse. Women are treated like inferior creations in many many sects in the US...don't point a finger at the Muslims...it's alive
and well and walks among us.

When the actual video of Robertson making comments regarding a man's so called natural tendency to be adulterous...hello what happened to a new creation in Christ and
why is anyone defending this creaky dinosaur.....exists along with well documented other gaffs, why ignore it? In Paul's day, that would have been called sin and people
would have been told have nothing to do with him.

Instead, his un-Christlike remarks are laughed off by some...would a woman committing adultery be treated the same way? I doubt it. Reminds me of the woman thrown
at the feet of Jesus. Notice there was no man...so like, who was she committing adultery with?

Since the garden of Eden it seems, men would like to blame women for their sins and failures. It's the woman...she made me do it. I don't think God accepts that excuse.

blaming others is why we had to be kicked out of the garden. instead of confessing, A blamed E and she blamed the serpent.

The worst part is not the laughing and dismissing it is when people think robertson has not gone far enough

Well this article has struck a nerve running deep. I suspected as much when little Ms BB posted the article. No good was ever going to come from this. B)

NB: Not many wise brethren... .

Hey now!
...are y'all talking about me? there is a way out JB - just stop posting :p but seriously...it is a good conversation piece especially when you think of how many other denoms out there, who have taken what God had said and turned them into something else.

NB: Not many wise brethren... .
Possibly why y'all are still posting...

no comment on your observation...why are men (not all at all but many) so intent on controlling rather than leading?

Because most men don't know how to lead but they do know how to control - and, sad but true, far too many women WANT to be controlled by men.
Also, for almost 2000 years, there weren't any female leaders in any of the Christian denominations - priests, pastors, ministers, or whatever - because that was also Biblical.

Angelina - Do New Zealanders now speak with an accent from the southern American states? - Y'all.
BTW - I THINK that you were talking about demons and NOT about pants - denoms - LOL.

I haven't met any of those...where do you live?

I am now going to go and strike out Deborah's name out of the book of Judges because that lady should not be in there. Guess she didn't know it......... :D

Do you recall what function Deborah performed? Also are you aware of how she thought about what she had to do and to whom she said it to? :)

NB: No offence intended sister.

no worries...I'm not offended.... I'm just really angry...

Seriously though, yes...which is why I brought her up (besides thinking it was a snappy answer)

At that time Deborah, a prophetess, wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel. She used to sit under the pal of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill
country of Ephraim; and the Israelites came up to her for judgement. Judges 4: 4~5

Below are copy/paste notes.....I guess she wasn't an Amazon, eh?

Having received instruction from God, Deborah summoned an Israelite warrior named Barak. She told him to take 10,000 troops up to Mount Tabor to confront Jabin's general, Sisera, who led an army made up of 900 iron chariots.
The Jewish Virtual Library says that Barak's response to Deborah "shows the high esteem in which this ancient prophetess was held." Other interpreters have said that Barak's response actually shows his discomfort at being ordered into battle by a woman, even if she was the ruling judge at the time. Barak said: "If you will go with me, I will go; if not I will not go" (Judges 4:8). In the next verse, Deborah agrees to go into battle with the troops, but tells him: "However, there will be no glory for you in the course you are taking, for then the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman" (Judges 4:9).

You do well then, if you can be angry and SIN NOT. B)

In regards to Deb, see if you can draw out the spiritual implications of what she did and said, as I tend to think theirs a message today for modern man and woman in the church.

Will get back to you on that...but how does that connect to men spanking their wives or even beating their wives? the actual op....

ps...I can guess what you are hinting at.but how did she get to be judge? We don't read of God dismissing her or disapproving of her...
people were human in the Bible and sins not hidden...(unlike so many today who would like to pretend that once you become a Christian it's
all la dee dah and your tootsies don't touch the ground when you walk)

Tomorrow though..........thanks
