TV is a garbage machine. Let's talk about average drama kings and queens. There are those who revel in there own drama - the psychological term is AXIS II. However, it is important to decipher between AXIS II folks and regular people who are under a lot of stress and no longer dealing with it productively. AXIS II include, at extremes - borderline personality disorder (I hate you; I love you); Narcissistic personality disorder (I am the greatest and the most unique; I am completely dependent on you as an audience); and schizoid personality disorder ( I am fear based, afraid of you; want a relationship with you). True personality disordered folks lack insight into their condition and have a pervasive pattern of reacting to the world. Every seen Fatal Attraction - stereotypical borderline personality disorder. If you feel like someone is boiling your family pet on your stove, you are probably dealing with someone who is borderline. Narcissists are braggarts until they are exposed - then they crumble and react passively - they tend to be dependent until they recover from the pantsing and take on their old braggart persona. Schizoids are usually recluses and hide from the world - they rarely show up in therapy. Borderlines are basically 3 year olds; Narcissists are 2; schizoids are the least developed personalities - fear based - 1 year olds are younger.
Drama belongs to Borderlines - every moment is a crisis - ever relationship is framed as "I love him; I hate him" - "I long for a relationship; everyone who wants a relationship is going to reject me"; "I take control by deciding when and how to end relationships I care about because I know they will leave me eventually"; "if I cannot have him, no one can".
