Satan is active on this planet. His work in its inhabitants is woven into history, en masse and in each individual.

• Sin is still the way of the world.
• Satan is still the prince of the power of the air.
• Satan is still at work in the children of disobedience.

Eph 2:1-3 You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, (2) in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience; (3) among whom we also all once lived in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

God is active on this planet. His work in its inhabitants is woven into history, en masse and in each individual.

• Love is still God's way of being merciful.
• Christ is still alive as are those with Him who are raised up and sitting with Him in heavenly places.
• Christ is still going to provide the glorious abundance of God's grace in His kindness towards those who are with Him in the future.
  

Eph 2:4-7 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, (5) even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), (6) and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (7) that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus;

I desire God's love and mercy and to escape from Satanic activity . . .so only in Christ is this possible.

I desire God's love and mercy and to escape from Satanic activity . . .so only in Christ is this possible.

Perhaps -- as someone has already pointed out -- "escape" should be replaced with "resist". Ideally there should be no Satan or evil spirits to trouble Christians. They should all be locked up in the Bottomless Pit, awaiting their judgment. But God allows their nefarious activities for His own reasons. At the same time greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.

Very good point. So resistance is NOT futile when God makes escape from Satanic activity possible.

1Co 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
