Galatians 5
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

A little leaven leavens the whole lump. Get a wrong thought into your mind, and it may work it's way through poisoning everything you think.

You did run well, what hindered you? It's not about whether you've fulfilled the conditions of a covenant that required obedience to works. It's that we believe, and so we love. It's not about what we do, it's about who we are.

Our hope is the righteousness that comes by faith, and through the Holy Spirit we wait for that.

These in Galatia, thinking they had to be circumcised, not realizing that in looking to be right with God through circumcision, they had stopped waiting for the hope of righteousness that comes by faith.

They were trying to be justified by their own works.

They had fallen from Grace.

You who teach the Law, do you not hear what the Law says?

Romans 5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Those who would be justified by Law.

Romans 2
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another,
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Those who did not receive the Law, still their own consciences tell them they are right and wrong.

And of course, that which is not of faith is sin.

Try to be right with God based on what you do, don't do, your works . . . the requirements of the Law . . . the requirements of your conscience?

Or remain in His grace.

Much love!
