We let the television back in a couple of years ago - and that was my fault. This was something I did.

The TV is gone now. We had already disconnected the WiFi, but the main line is still used by Mr. Duck, but now he wants to have the whole internet disconnected.

We are going back to some modern Mennonite roots and I'm going back to a flip phone. I will still be able to check in from time to time.

Please pray for us to have strength over temptation and set our focus away from distractions and towards God and our family.

:praying: Hb Agreeing with you in prayer, @DuckieLady.
Your family is taking some seemingly drastic steps toward an amazing place of freedom most will not know until the grid goes down and they're forced to.

I'm finding that having a nice outdoor space (garden, flowers, little nooks where the wall of morning glory and and honeysuckle vines shade the pathway alongside a chicken coop) pets, and chickens just draws me outdoors. I was so blessed to be able to sit on my front porch this morning and watch the honey bees, the hummingbirds, etc going between all the different flowers ... and the morning sunrise ...listening to the birds, etc. It refreshes and revives me and makes me not want to be on my phone or watching YouTube. When I get inside, I may watch a little YT or glance in on the forum. But then I think of things to do in the house and I get to organizing cabinets, or washing linens, washing dishes ...lol.

I don't normally want my phone near me unless I turn on some music, or want my phone somewhere near in case of emergency.

All that being said, I have a desire also to greatly reduce internet and gadget use.

Same here, honestly. I might overdo it sometimes.

I think in about a week when the ID verifications start, a lot less people will be using those websites (YouTube, Facebook, etc) and that I could cause seeing a stock market crash very soon. At least if they're doing it the way I think they are. If I'm understanding it correctly.

you tube , face book . This sheep took a peek at all that years ago .
NO desire for it . miss it , i dont even get on it .
My desire is to find sheep who love the LORD and i darn sure didnt see it in them places .
And if you think folks are fast to ban sheep on these sites
TRY speaking truth in those places . OH i aint against anyone trying to witness on such places
But most dont even witness , they too busy looking at all the drama and being distracted .
TV . yeah that aint no loss either .
TRY finding a show that honors GOD
TRY finding commericals that dont always pander to wicked agendas .
its ALL over the place now .
I suggest we all stay planted in THE DOCTRINE , that bible
and be exhorting one another daily WITH THE TRUTH .

It actually doesn't seem that different. I don't spend time on social media (besides here) and we both have data for regular things. My data is severely limited, but Mr. Duck left his phone so I can get piano lessons and get some other stuff sorted out that does require internet.

I hate to say it, but we are more dependent on it today than ever and have bills.

Is the world even suitable enough to live in 1993 again

This is good. I think it is good to spend more time being traditional with family and less time on technology. I see values in whatever you decide, if you decide to use them less its good but if you use them to speak about God and also enjoy fellowship, there is nothing wrong with that.
