father....

For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. - 1 Corinthians 4:15

But not Father...

Call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. - Matthew 23:9

In which the first written father figure outside the actual Father is Job...

16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:
32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveler.
40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended. - Job 31

And to play the part of a father is to care for those in need as a good father cares for his own. So here on earth we are supposed to play the part of father, knowing that one is our Father, even God.

MATT 23:9-10 Rest of the verse...8 But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ. 11 But the greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

Jesus also said not to be called, teacher , rabbi, (instructor, leader).
Then Jesus goes on to speak about how we should all serve one another.

Yet, no one has a problem using these titles.( leader, teacher (rabbi) instructor) I don't call anyone Father cept my dad, I did, but of course that was different. So I think it means sin HOW we MEAN it.
We don't look to a pastor as we do Christ first & foremost, as He is our teacher.
There are religions who look to those who teach them as speaking for God and when shown the scriptures they will actually believe man over what it plainly says.

That's just my take on this. If anyone knows better I'm open.
